New GPU

The 970 is a fairly high end card, right? I'm probably going to upgrade in the next few months, as I've upgraded everything but my graphics card. I'm still using a 660 Ti, and whilst it serves me well, it's lagging behind my i7 4770k and causes some bottlenecking issues.

Ye its a high-end card can run most latest games at 1080 ultra settings, plus its not super expensive.

I've heard the fans don't even need to spin while playing arma 3!

You could try getting the 980 if you save up that little bit extra cash otherwise it's a good card.

So i finally decided to upgrade my old 750 GTX Ti to a nice beefy 970, had to buy a new psu as well to cover the 2 x 6-pin PCI-E power connectors lol

Anyone got a 970 and what's the performance like with arma 3?
What's your processor spec's? Just out of curiosity...

Don't expect a massive increase in performance from a new graphics card when it comes to Arma3.

For other games, yes it will be a massive boost, just not with Arma3.

I used to have an old Radeon HD 5850, I upgraded from that to a GeForce GTX 980.

My performance in Arma, went from 20 FPS in Kalava on low settings, to 20 FPS in Kavala on Ultra settings (still will 1600 object rendering distance on both cards). Even on low settings with my current card, I only get about 25 FPS in Kavala.

Conclusion: Basically from a shitty old card, to absolute top of the line... I really didn't get any major boost in FPS worth talking about.

However, if you upgrade your processor, you'll probably get a massive boost in performance in Arma3.

@Cutter did this recently, he has a much older graphics card than me, and I think he gets about 45 FPS in Kavala compared to me with an older crappier processor. He used to get about 15-20 FPS in Kavala on his old processor, so that's a significant boost in performance.

Just built a new rig today, i5 4690k and asus z97 pro gamer mobo.

CPU runs at 4.4ghz with hyper 212 evo cooler.

That CPU clockspeed should give you really good FPS in Arma3.

Let me know how it goes once you test it.
Custom ultra settings (not all maxed out)

Averaging about 50fps in kavala, dips down to 35ish when there is massive amounts of hobo vehicle deathmatching.

Recording 1080p i average around 30 in kavala.

Overall its much better
