Negotiating with the police

Ok, here's the story.. Me and my friends stole two police vehicles and a hostage (civ).
I texted the police telling them we want £500k for the cars on the hostage and told them where to meet us.
The hostage must of been talking to his friend on skype because someone came and just shot me without saying anything so I'm guessing it was his friend..anyway we ended up killing the hostage because of that and then the police arrived.
The police man started to talk (currently we were getting flanked by two other policemen).
When the negotiator found out the hostage was gone the other two flanking policemen opened fire, but the negotiator was acting like he didn't know what was going on, so we assumed it was the hostages friends back again... Then the negotiator pulled out a gun and started shooting and we all died. It was fun but it felt abit unfair the way the negotiator was lying..
How would you guys of done this differently??
For the next time we try something like this :) any tips are good, thanks

A negotiator is not obliged to tell the truth he can and will say anything to ensure the safety of the hostage and himself, the fact they just opened fire and not tried to get you to surrender gives me slight concerns though

Did you take away the hostage comms?

if you did then him and his friend are not good RPlayers...

When taking a hostage always try to have a plan B and C... if things don't go like planned...

About the cops... ask to the negotiator to come alone... if the cops see that you are outnumbered they are gonna try to take you down probably...

There are lots of things...

You are asking for advice how to prevent being overrun while doing a negotiations? Ooooh you naughty, naughty guy!

1) Tell the hostage you took his coms, and ask him to physically drop his radio, map and GPS. Tell him you also took his phone (radio is supposed to be that afaic but not everyone values rp as much..). If you think its needed, type in direct chat: /OOC: You are not allowed to use third party programs to communicate when I take your coms.

2) If he has nothing interesting to say, gag him.

3) when you meet the cops, always demand 1 guy delivered by 1 helicopter to a location you chose. Cop has to be unarmed with no coms, he can leave the coms in the Helicopter.

-Make sure the hostage is near/visible (top of a nearby tower, building) but not at your location. When the cops come to talk to you, you can tell them to look in a certain direction to see the hostage.

-Make sure the people who are with the hostage then have a way of transport and tell them to drive away while NOT in line of sight from your location.

This way the police will not know the hostages location, so they cant overrun you. They did see him, so they can go ahead and pay your demand. If you, like you said, have cars as well, give them the cars then and there as a sign of good faith and meeting them half way. When they paid you, you tell them the location where they can find the hostage and you leave the area. Tell your friends to leave the hostage, restrained, at that location and let them move out as well.

Not fail-safe, but works pretty well for me. Also gives some good RP as you can negotiate and it won't always end in a shoot out. Cops like it that way too :) It's not about the money. #RPeverything

Hello there Sir. I am DSGT Walt and I was the negotiator for this hostage incident and would like to explain what happened from our point of view.

So after receiving your call about the hostage and the vehicles I got information on the hostage provided by yourself and information on the two vehicles. I then moved to your location (DP6) from Kavala with my fellow Officers Liquid and Junior. Whilst on route we get the Police Helicopter to move in beforehand and provide overwatch of the situation (IceZaroth I believe). He managed to provide constant updates on the sitaution and gave us information about your movement within the zone. With this information I made the call to place Liquid and Junior on a flank so that if anything went wrong they could provide an immediate and deadly response. I then approached you via the Police Offroad and pulled up, we exchanged pleasentries and I asked to see the hostage to verify the operation and their safety. After communicating with your team you informed me that your team had infact killed the hostage because we took too long arriving.

Hearing that, I informed the team of the situation and they get ready to take shots as we had percieved the situation was about to turn into an ambush on myself. You said that since the innitial deal was for 500k and you had killed the hostage you would drop the price to 500k. Clearly this wasn't going to happen as we are far more concerned about a civilian than vehicles and you were demanding the same money. At this point your friend had arrived and your guns were lowered. I requested that I might do the same and you kindly allowed me to. At this point I did not wish to continue negotiations as the civilian had been what I believed to be wrongfully executed as I am fairly sure my fellow Officers contacted you requesting more time. I then told my team to begin firing. My thought process as this point was, ((if I decline the negotiation, I'll probably be shot. So we may aswell try to neutralize the threats so they can't harm anymore civilians.))

With that the team followed my direct order and began engaging you and your team. I knew I was extremely vulnerable at this time, and so acted as though I was unaware of why this firefight had started and ducked for cover. I would like to note, that although I had my weapon equipped I DID NOT fire at you as I too believed that to be unfair. You were somewhat assisting me and so I layed there. After a warning to drop my weapon (I believe, I couldn't hear you too well) I was knocked out on the ground. After regaining conciousness I remained on the ground whilst your friend aimed a weapon at my back. I made no attempts to engage you and was told to drop my weapon. I did, and whilst doing so an Officer engaged your friend and killed him. At that point I managed to get my weapon and slowly assisted in the search for the final suspect. He fired at myself and another Officer and was finally taken out by a team mate.

I can confirm, I fired about 5 bullets throughout the whole operation at the very end and got no kills whatsoever. I complied with the requests you made as I didn't want to shoot you in the back.

My main tip is, if an Officer is contacting you directly about a Hostage Operation, they are clearly responding and wanting to help negotiate a deal. With that in mind, please do not kill the hostage. If the hostage had lived I imagine it would have gone a different way. However your killing of the hostage and requests for the same amount of cash meant we had to take action.

We enjoyed it. Hope you did too. Sorry it didn't end well.

DSGT Walt.

Thanks for the tips guys! tbh the hostage wasn't really roleplaying..we told him we have taken his cell phone and he just replied with a, 'shut up mate'. I think it would of went alot better if the hostage was actually playing instead of acting the way he did.
