From what I can gather, it's an issue with either the MOBO, or the RAM. Try different configurations, test other sticks of RAM from a friend/spare PC if you can.
I had this issue such a long time ago, I genuinely can't remember if it resolved itself or if I played with enough settings I managed to sort it.
Is your BIOS update?
There's a lot of gobbledy-goop that you/I won't really understand here, however on one of the comments "Checking it with CPU-Z has brought something up: they're clocked differently. The 2x2GB are PC3-10700 (DDR3-1333?) and the 2x4GB are PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600?) Would that make a difference? And if so, how would one fix it? Just OC the slower stuff?" So, what RAM are you using?
