Need Help: High Ping on ALUK Servers.

Hello Everyone!
I'm having issues on both ALUK servers - getting 350-400 ms latency and getting kicked immediately after loading in.
I tried restarting and tried to connect with and without the ALUK Launcher. Nothing helps. I had all other programs closed, to make sure that nothing else was using up the internet.
Other EU servers are fine. I can connect and play Armajunkies KOTH, wasteland, etc.
I didn't have any latency issues yesterday.

The best connection for our servers (based in the UK) is going to be the UK and EU

I am sorry to say at this time we wont be improving or looking into any problems outside that scope.

If you only didn't have latency yesterday it's quite possible just your own internet connections playing up, other servers may have a higher ping restriction than ALUK, hence why you can play on them (ALUK is 250). I doubt this will ever be raised due to the desync and lag problems it brings, making the playing experience worse for others.

There is nothing to improve. I used to play in summer without any issues and played whole last week with stable latency. Its just that today it has been acting up only with ALUK server

Other servers have the same ping as they normally have. Its just ALUK that doubled its ping for me and keeps kicking me.

Restart your router, do a speed test to an England based server before and after.

Make sure all other devices aren't streaming/downloading etc

Not much else but maybe @Zeito can be sexy and show off his tech Thong as always.

Tried that. didn't help.
Also, did speed test with 5 ISPs in London - all are showing normal latency.

Assuming your location is correct and you are genuinely connecting from UAE - as far as i'm aware they have state controlled telecoms and the internet runs through a government NAT/Proxy/Great Firewall.

Considering there's no mass reports of HUGE pings for anyone else, and there are regular players from the USA, we can rule out the connection ALUK's servers uses to the internet. It would seem the route your connection is taking from your computer ,through your ISP, to where ever ALUKs servers are is being shaped/constrained in some way. Unfortunately if you've done everything you can to minimise latency, and we already ruled out the ALUK connection - that leaves it to your ISP and the route it takes and there;s nothing that can be done about this really.

If you open command prompt and type "tracert server.altislife.co.uk" without the quotes, and paste the results here. That'll show the route your computer takes to hit the server, and the latency at each step. You'll get something like this:

traceroute to server.altislife.co.uk (185.38.151.197), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

I believe the ALUK servers are is Bristol, UK and their ISP probably doesnt have DNS names or they dont resolve as you get into their network hence the * * *.

You can see my pint by the time i hit Bristol is 31-39ms.

@Zeito, thanks for the reply. Here are the results:

It looks like it shoots up once it gets to UK :(

Anything I can do to fix it? (I doubt that calling my ISP and asking them to do something about it will work tho).

It would appear that yeah you're hitting a brick wall at "bandwidth.co.uk" who i hit also but only at 28ms, even the same gateway.

I'm not sure there's anything your ISP can do about it. It's interesting though as that hop, and the one before it for VOXILITY.NET are on the same network. 5.254.x.x/16 and your ping isn't that high for it.

However see all those 10.x.x.x at the start? That's a MASSVE Class A network. UAE must be using carrier-grade NAT which is basically a bad way to control the citizens internet access. You're basically on a big LAN with the rest of UAE.

I'm not sure what to tell you unfortunately. There used to be an application called HAMACHI that was used for creating virtual lans over the internet, it used 5.x.x.x addresses which at the time were not publically used, even though it didnt own them.

I would say if you knew anyone else in UAE and could get them to do the same as above and see if they are all getting the same big pings. @Wolf are you based in UAE?

@Zeito, I could try asking a few of my friends to do the tracert tomorrow and send me their results.
Yes, Dubai's ISPs are infamous for how terrible they are.

I'm just curious why it started today and I wasn't having this issue the entire week.

EDIT: Do you know if WTFast is going to help at all with this? I've never tried it but I know that it works for some games.

You could try that application, it seems to work sort of like a VPN, so i would check with the admins first it isnt prohibitied or banned. @Wilco
