Part 3/3: Repossesing job/Impound
So at this point impound is a good situation but can be improved. Grinding up to mechanic level 4 doesn't bring the benefit/reward I feel it deserves.
The only RP I have gotten out of it was one person who messaged me and I went up to impound his flipped car. No person was at the vehicle until I drove off. I detached the vehicle. Repaired it with my repair kit I had bought myself and had a little nice RP with the person. 10/10 RP experience.
The one time I called a mechanic myself I got called and told to go basically F*** myself. Zero RP. The only fun I had there is sending a fun message to the person stating I would give him a bad Yelp review and he responded with a good comeback.
So I started thinking about how this could be improved and I came up with a somewhat ambitious idea.
For instance, the same system as the cops have for fines could be used here. A way where the Repo/mechanic could get a tiny bit of money of the down payment if the person who missed payment pays there on the spot or when they return the car to the dealership. This might make the mechanic/repo job more interesting and prone to force some nice conversations and RP chances. For new players it will also help them get on their feet a bit sooner since they don't have to pay the full cost of a vehicle they need to start doing legal/illegal work. And if the car is on a hotlist which I will explain next it will open up a bit of healthy competition between the impounders/repo people forcing more RP.
Furthermore, I think there would need to be a system in place for those people who do not pay the payments instigated by the impounders/repossessors. Something like locking the car in a singular place not being able to use it while pulling it out of the garage (wheel clamp only a level 4 impounder can take of?). Automatically putting it on the list of cars for full repossession to the dealership with a slightly bigger reward. Maybe even spawn the car than to a different location again forcing a bit of healthy competition between the impounders/repo people forcing more RP. A race to who can get the car first impounded.
Also, there would be a need for a second system where a not fully paid off car could not be transferred or sold over to another player. With this in place, one could even state that if a car misses 3 to 5 IRL days of payment the car dealer should be able to request the car gets shredded. If the owner/player refuses to pull out the car in this period he should be faced with a penalty like let's say a 2-3 day ban or something along these lines preventing players just keeping cars in garages indefinitely. This would need to be in place I assume for admin to be able to delete the vehicle from existence. I would suggest the car is then fully lost and the dealership gets an insurance payout which will pay off the cost he has made for the vehicle minus 10% to 20% depending on investment price. This way the dealership has to choose their customers more wisely and invest in a good sales/customer relationship.
This will introduce a few more economic aspects. First of all a loaning system for money. But this needs to be regulated. I can see a situation where people will make alts, buy a car and sell it to another "player" or middlemen.
To prevent this there is already a rule but adding the fact that the person/account will be blacklisted for all dealerships until they pay off or the car is returned. This will force players not to play hide and seek with the cars. Maybe it would even be an option to have a whiteboard like with the food delivery, truckers place. On the whiteboard, there could be a hotlist of cars that needed to be repossessed. Otherwise, know as a hotlist for cars that are up for repossessing.
On the whiteboard, you could have some specific NPC/local cars and some player cars. So there is a continuous stream of cars to be impounded but more diversity in the job. And as mentioned before, multiple people will be on the hunt/lookout possibly for the same car. Think of the Simeon missions of normal GTA.
Please also read part 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 if this sparked your interest, I will go more in depth with more options.
