Microphone Selection

Recently I bought a Blue Yeti Blackout, I like it but its picks up too much background noise (moving mouse across mouse pad, lightly rocking in my chair.) No, I do not have a shock mount. Although its picks up people outside of my room when my door is open.

It has a little bit to do with my house, since it has really tall ceilings, not to mention marble floors. Meaning echoing is a big problem.

Do you have a suggestion, what works well for you? Do I need a desktop mic, or my ModMic will work fine?

P.S This was quickly typed up, also the Blue Yeti looks like the dildo.

Have you tried one of those filter things? Or having it suspended on one of those arms so it's distanced from the desktop?

No the problem is if I get a shock mount it will reduce vibration but not background noise. And the filter thingy (pop filters) are meant to stop plosives and "P" and "B" sounds.

How close are you to the mic?

As samat suggested it might be good to get a boom arm and place the mic right next to your mouth and turn the gain down a little bit.

Also make sure you are on cardioid mode and on the front side as the yeti has 4 modes.
