Hey guys its ya boi ladimir and i have a question

If you tell a officer a fake name, can they check that "are they on the island with their computer"

Is  that powergaming or can they actually do that?

If you give them a fake name then they can ask you for ID (license etc) but you can, of course, say that you just don't have any on you.  It depends on how you and they RP it.

What they can't do is just outright say "No that's a fake name, your real name is....." as yes, that would be power gaming

Obviously they can attempt to try to find it by other means as well such as, checking vehicle registrations, asking people that you're with etc.

I mean, if an officer tried to tell me I wasn't on the registry for the Island or whatever, I would come up with RP as to why.

"I'm a new immigrant, I guess you didn't build the wall high enough"

"My true identity is classified and I'm afraid I cannot reveal it to someone of your stature"

"Look over there ! It's a massive rabbit heading straight for us" *Runs away*

*Well maybe your system isn't updated to include my name? Have you tried deleting system 32?"

There's Infinite possibilities. Make them giggle and maybe they'll bugger off.

If you mean what I think you mean. It's only become a problem recently with the new PNC system and my opinion it shouldn't be allowed. You wouldn't know everyone who happens to be "awake" at the time but not people who aren't. The PNC system has a list of people in place in order to allow cops to put notes on anyone on the server and making use of that to say "oh well your name isn't on the PNC is something I wouldn't allow to happen.

What @Julie Cel said is the best counter argument in my opinion so it can't really be powergamed.

So basically it is against the rules? I got schooled by a PCSO and a SPC yesterday because i said // that is powergaming/metagaming and you cannot do that

It would be power gaming in my opinion, as they are using information against you and just denying you anyway to roleplay your way out of it by using information they wouldnt have access to.

officers shouldn't know your name anyway, if they accuse you of having a fake name just because you gave them a name, its straight up meta gaming.

instead of this officers need to think of tricky ways to get around tricking civillians into giving them there name.

Don't bother talking to them in game if that is the case. Even if you don't have a video, write down their names and join a help channel is TS. Tell the staff what happened and say you would like the officers to be spoken to.

You don't have to file a report if you don't want. And the problem gets solved by them getting information from a staff member that they cannot do what they did.

I think it's not stupid at all that you can check all the civilians who is registered on that island, if officer says they can't find anyone named "X" in their PNC you could role play that out by explaining you are having your holiday from somewhere. just use some imagination everything will fall together eventually.

And I'm not also sure if it is powergaming or not because you can also see ppl who is not wanted.

I have tried that multiple times and then they say im illegally in altis. The police will always find a reason to get you arrested using metagame

This has come up before. It always comes down to roleplay.

There is no police database in game that shows every citizen registered on the island, but it's ludicrous in terms of RP to assume there isn't. The UK police in 2017 have one so it's safe to assume the UK police in 2037 have one too. Many police will 'roleplay' that they are checking your details on the PNC as this is the most realistic thing to do.

It is essentially powergaming for the officer to tell you that you're not listed on the PNC simply because he sees your real name above your head, however there are some exceptions and you should be aware that giving a fake name doesn't simply mean the police will accept it and let you go.

For example, if suspected of a crime and you give a fake name to 'me', and I have a reasonable suspicion you may be lying (Something other than the name above your head), be prepared for at least 20-30+ mins of extended quality roleplay as I take you back to the station for questioning in order to confirm your identity.

An example of reasonable suspicion would be if you're pulled over in a car who's owner is wanted but you give a name different to the registered owner. It's our job to confirm you're either the wanted suspect or not. To do this I'm going to need authentic ID (which you won't have since you've given a fake name), or I'm going to want the actual vehicle owner to come and verify your story (which he can't do because he doesn't exist).  If after all attempts to verify your name have failed, then I'd be forced to let you go, but in the example above, you'd might be charged with vehicle theft & driving without a licence and insurance (since you've not been able to provide either). The outcome would always be dependant on the quality of your RP and whether you're able to give a believable RP story.

It's a game of cat and mouse, sometimes the cat wins, sometimes the mouse wins, but at the end of the day, it's all roleplay. Embrace it 😉
