Hey guys

I was arrested yesterday for attempting to steal a police car I was put in the back of the officers car, and my pc turned itself off for automatic updates meaning, it was basically a combat log, the police officer sent me a message which I received when I was back online, "have fun while it lasts" I explained that my PC turned off for automatic updates and I was sorry, and I was told by the officer "tell that to the forums" I'm not sure what he quite meant and I am quite new to the server.

If anyone is able to help explain what he meant it would be gladly appreciated..

Thanks.

Basically what it means is that he will probably be reporting you.
What you need to do now is find some kind of evidence of your computer having done the automatic updates so that you can prove you did not log off intentionally as this is known as "combat logging" and is against server rules which may result in a ban unless you can argue your case with evidence.
If he doesn't report you, good. You don't need to provide evidence however I would definitely recommend reading and understanding the server rules found at http://www.altislife.co.uk/topic/2548-altis-life-rules-updated-october-2014/

Welcome to the server, follow the rules, keep evidence of important things if you feel you may need it and generally just be a fantastic person.
Follow my advice and you'll be welcomed with open arms here, we're lovely people really.

My suggestion? Hand yourself in. Take off where you left off and pretend it didn't happen. Don't try and be sneaky by storing your gear and face the reality. Take screenshots as well.

Well, you seem like you want to come clean; Kris' suggestion is lovely... Maybe give a little gift voucher to the police officer that processed/processes you? I heard they like tacos and ice-cream!

Also, as a final note... turn off automatic updates :)

You can prove this by looking through your event viewer, look in the system logs and search for the last 6006 event (shutdown event), somewhere prior to that there should be an event logged by the windows update agent.

If you can take screenshots of this which cross reference with your combat log and provide them when requested, I'd imagine you'd be in the clear.

Thanks for the advice, I'll do this
