Keep getting into spectator

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has the same problem:

Literally every time I try to join the server, I keep getting pushed into spectator. Once im in there, the whole screen is black, and I cant do anything but disconnect from the server. Tried to restart and rejoin the server 4-5 times in a row now. 

Any ways to fix this?

A fix I found somewhere online for this is when you join the server try and connect if it fails don't leave the server go back to the lobby and change your civ and try again usually works in 1-2 attempts of this.

For example I join the server playing as Civ 1 then I get the bug I change to Civ 2 and so on so forth.
