After discovering Altis Life for the first time I've played on this server everyday for a decent amount of time and have always been waiting for the next time i could get back on and play.

I just don't have that now, i played earlier today and just lost complete enjoyment for the game, i spent 40-50 mins on a salt run and got next to nothing from it in my Box Hemtt and then got robbed by someone who didn't even try to RP with me when i made the attempt,

I originally liked the idea to change the prices around a bit but it was too dramatic a change. I thought though I'd give it another chance tonight and grab some diamonds because its real world price based but because of all these changes i just lost complete motivation to play for the time being and didn't even log on.

Maybe after playing in the new system for a bit it wont feel so crap, but the massive change isn't helping anyone.

Yeah I had to play wasteland for the rest of the day as I didn't know how to make money, its just a piss around because I'm pretty sure the reason these prices were changed was to make it more like real life (as value fluxuates) but in real life I would also know all the bloody values.

In all honesty I don't spend the day working to make money to come home and then spend even more time and effort trying to enjoy myself, that's just doesn't work, we don't go on our PC's to play life, we go in them to enjoy ourselves and get away from life, goin full realism just doesn't work.I just didn't want to play at all when I got home, because the fun was completely gone.

I have to agree with Dai here 1st time in 3 weeks i not spent the evening in Altis here since the changes ............  its to much sorry... my crew have all but given up and i have to admit im feeling the same way,

we was collectively saving for assets as we have done since the start.

We have dealt with hackers and losing our stuff ,missing trucks and 2million+ in missing cash collectively with server restarts.

RDMers VDMers KOsers ....all we have shrugged off knowing that together we can make it back or that it will get better in time...

But im with DAi in saying im just not in the mood , if i can rally the troops i will try again but right now there be no wind in my sails if you get my drift.

I love this British Altis and most of the ppl i have met on here, i hope there can be a happy meduim to the current changes to allow the regulars of Altis to carry on here.

I'm in the exact same boat as Ghostfire, 3 weeks we spent on the game and only have 3 mil in cash and assets, now how are we meant to put the time in to gain that amount of money again when the value has been reduced like crazy.

Some of us don't have that amount of time irl to earn all of that back so were starting to lose the will to play altogether.

Woke up today and felt lost. The thought of logging on is .. well, let's just say there is about 2% enthusiasm there. I think ~90% of the people I know are leaving until things are changed. (Not the price change thing though, other things.)

Jay im the same am sitting here with a little free time before Easter shit starts and would be on my way mining salt running coke etc but instead im sitting here watching twitch unmotivated to jump on..... i just dont want to deal with the chaos and lack of reward for alot of risk.

Same same. You're never going to make a game 100% realistic and it's gone to far for me (and the 4-5 guys I play with). We could all live with the RDM etc...it didn't take that long to get geared up again and get over it. You're never going to stop noobs coming in and running people over etc but the relative ease of getting everything back and then having some fun was worth it.

Now though, it's too much of a chore. I come here to relax and take it easy, it's just too much like hard work now.

I completely agree with you, maybe before the server was a little too dreamland but only once you earned the equipment to help you, it took well over two weeks to earn 1 million and there were 3 of us all working together, now it's pointless even aiming high because you just know your never going to make it unless you've got 20 men giving you all their cash.

Our first Hemtt was robbed and chopped within 5 minutes of owning it, it took another week of constant playing just to get the money to replace it, but we did it and we carried on.

If I was to lose one of my Hemtt's now it would take weeks to a month to replace with the current economy and we just don't have that much time on our hands.

yup its pointless to bring out assets of any value as they will be targeted more so than before and impossible to replace without many hours of graft .... so its come to the crunch and am thinking that at the current moment the way things are i can`t donate anymore and i will have to look else where to live my Altis life. its been a blast!!

peace

I did start a suggestion thread and no one has asked for the old prices back ?... so i am at a loss right now..

No I don't think many people realise there is a thread, few guys I was just playing with wanted old prices back, tbh Wilco I don't want old prices back but I'd like it to be about half as much as before rather than how low it is currently.

The suggestion thread should of been made before you did the changes, then you would of known the views of the community and plan the changes accordingly.

I hope you open your eyes and change the way you construct things, rather than keeping the community in the dark and losing regular members in the mist of it.  Big changes you do needs to be backed by community feedback tbh, after all we are the people that make your server thrive.

Right. Here's the skinny.

Firstly, I have to say I'm a little disappointed with some of the reactions here, but I can understand them. Wilco and I have strived many, many hours yesterday, trying to bring about changes that (we thought) the community had been asking for, in terms of spinning the economy around and mixing things up again. The result is that some of you are depressed about those changes and confused because you don't know where everything is, or what it's worth anymore. Personally, I'm more confused about what it is that people want...because the messages we're receiving are conflicted. You want change, but you want everything to be the same salt-coke-run-grind, because you don't want to try new things to work out where the money-streams are now. Help meh! I'm at a loss now... :)

However, you should know something that we haven't (until now) made public. It's no secret, but we're not shouting it from the rooftops. At first, yesterday morning, I thought we'd been hacked. All the money in the database was reset to zero (apart from about 20 players that were still live on the server). Everyone's cash was GONE. The lot. Worse than that, every person who was a cop was reset to civilian (i.e. their whitelisting and rank was gone), and every donator's tier level was reset to zero as well. Even the AL admin levels had been zapped too. I could've cried. I had my suspicions who it might have been, but it turned out not to be. It was a database management tool (which I shall not name to save embarrassment to its author, who is not a part of this community - he is understandably horror-stricken, but that doesn't really help us much).

Luckily, we hadn't lost player-gear (mostly) and we still had all player-vehicles linked to the players that owned them, so it was not a total loss... but of course, money appears to be everything to some folks, so we knew we would be up the creek whatever happened.

Sadly, because we have recently moved server, the most-recent available rollback was many days ago, so we decided it would be better to just deal with this by resetting everyone's cash in bank to £300,000, and explaining it (in RP) as a Treasury bust. It would be impossible (not to mention take forever and be open to abuse) to find out what everybody thought they had in terms of cash.

At the same time, we discussed that this might be an opportune 'Year Zero' moment to 'mix things up a bit' in terms of the economy, simply because so many of you had been asking for that variety. So, in as quick a time as possible, we researched some car prices, chopper prices, boat and truck prices, and took some 'executive decisions' on relative earnings power from things like coke, heroin, and other commodities, based upon a 3 hours = 1 year type economy footing. (you get paid every 15mins, which effectively 1 months wages).

At the same time we began the absolutely massive task of resetting all the donator-tiers correctly for each player (a massive task that took much of the day for Wilco, working from lists, etc) and fixing the cops back into the DB so that they had whitelist access, giving everyone 300k, and so on. Not a pretty task. We we both locked into this task until about 3am, having started in the previous mid-morning. The first cut was completed sufficiently enough during the 2.5 hour downtime that the server had yesterday lunchtime, to go 'live' again, with partial updates every four hours as we resolved more of the economy and donator issues... can you imagine the stress that was going on behind the scenes?

So here we are. We at least have a working server again, and we have a new economy. Nobody is going to say it is perfect... but just like real life, economy-shit happens! We will survive, if we want to. We just have to bear the grim times and keep tweaking. Offset all this against a barrage of hacks and general RDMing twats requiring bans, plus all the other 'usual admin' tasks, and it makes for a very busy day for the two people currently bearing *all* the load. We're doing our best, and this isn't our job... it's our hobby (some would say obsessive curse, but that's an opinion, lol).

If you have suggestions about the economy, and they aren't just whines, please, let us know and we'll try to tweak them. We will probably do a poll to see what people would prefer - the old 'dreamland' prices (we can still rip them from the stock Altis Life core) or something along the lines we have now, but improved (continually, I expect). What do you WANT to play? What is most FUN for you? Tell us. But at the same time, please be prepared to try new things (I hear turtles are among the most lucrative commodity at the moment, for example... when was the last time you and a crew went boating?). Don't just assume everything is broken (some of it isn't - storage prices, for example are way, way lower and a lot more understandable per vehicle type now)... and do understand that we changed things like the salt/coke-run grind, PRECISELY because people had said they were bored with it.

This is life. It changes. You can influence that change, and we really don't want you to leave because you're unhappy... but if you care that much about life here, you can make a difference. Tell us - constructively, preferably - what it is you want, and what the *real* problems are with the economics, and we will endeavour to fix them as quickly as we can. Patience on your part may be required, but we do want you to be happy.

Otherwise why else would Wilco and I be pulling 14 hours days sweating this stuff, day-in, day-out? It sure as shit ain't for the good of our health or our wallets! LOL. Hope this finds a reasonable ear or two out there...

I've actually brought up what Denzel said in your suggestion thread and prices wouldn't be a problem if what we had before was scaled down and compensated to fit it accordingly as I also stated in your suggestion thread.

Speaking of the suggestion area, only Ed reads it and nothing ever came out of the suggestions area unless a cop brings it to you, even though we had ideas to make the server better. For example I brought up lower starting money, convinced Carl Roberts it was a good idea and Major CJ said he would bring it up to you, then you implement it,but restart the ENTIRE economy with it and didn't scale anything. Another example is literally every update displayed in the "Updates" section is for Police, with a handful of cars for donators and utility features for civs like remote car locks,so out of all TEN updates Civs and Rebels gained absolutely nothing, only donators who got a few skins to break up the monoteny. This is what I brought up a few weeks ago with Police bias and the need for a civ/rebel admin, which you were for about a week and then reverted to the police who are now the most powerful people on the island.

@ Ed we are upset because the assets and wealth we acquired over a long period of time are completely gone. The new prices are only an issue because when an asset is lost like say a HEMMT it will take several weeks to get a new one. If we were compensated on a scale of what we previously posessed in accounts and assets the game would be the same for us and inflation would be gone because of the slower economy.

Simplified we are upset that all of our time and effort has been for a minor starting boost after a wipe we were never told was going to happen.

You should of announced the database screw up first thing, rather than trying to hide it as a role play scenario, as it seems like a serious concern (I'm not sure how it works, but keeping frequent database back-ups externally couldn't rectify the problem?) .

This would in most definitely change every bodies views and they would most likely be more understanding. But hey I guess being kept In the dark is a trait of this server.

I'd prefer to be roll-backed from many days ago rather than every bodies cash being reset in which has completely destroyed months of hard work and most importantly destroys peoples momentum's, what security do we have? what if another database cock-up arises in the near future, am I safe to say that you guys have learn't from your mistakes.

Along with the new economy, we all suggested to have dynamic prices, In example, every month or so alter the prices to roll the dices and get the community guessing which is the new best money-maker, but no.. the admins decided to do a complete overhaul of the economy which negates what the community wanted in the suggestion forums and thus creating a distaste in our mouths, whats the point of having a suggestion forum if it goes unnoticed by admins.

(I hear turtles are among the most lucrative commodity at the moment, for example... when was the last time you and a crew went boating?)

But have you guys not considered that to catch Turtles you need an SDAR which is available from the Rebel outpost, which is £500k in itself for a license. It seems to me that the balance is off.

I also noticed countless topics of lost HEMMTs/Orcas which had gone unnoticed for weeks but have now all been purged due to the new economy, I sometimes say to myself, is this server really worth it?

However I am glad in a way that this event sadly happened, as it seems to me that you guys finally fixed the Donation sections, its one thing to donate, but its another thing to donate and find out that you are not able to purchase things which were advertised, or the pricing were messed up etc..
