Issues with memory

Hey guys, not long returned to Rpuk after sorting out my previous technical issues (stop start frames crashes and kicks made to impossible so left till I fixed it in order not to ruin anybody's Rp plus was fed of of people saying I was new cause I couldn't speak frying the frame skips) so I fixed it and actually got some game time in (frames fine ocassinal kick due to WiFi) then bam game crashes and I get the low memory warning the after the a complete crash. The main thing I'm asking is how would it come up in the logs? (As I would get a black screen and have to ctrl alt delete in order to get my desktop back) as if this was to happen in a situation (I can play for an hour before it does it) I do not want the person to think I'm combat logging or anything (and my Rl memory being what it is I wouldn't have a clue who to contact to sort it). Just asking to protect myself ATM I'm tending to avoid major situations (robberies, etc) and just playing the 6 string in kavala, sorry if this doesn't make sense I have learning difficultys and writing can be hard for me at times (30 years old it's embarrassing to admit)

Well first thing ive got to ask is how many Gb of ram does your computer have once we establish that i might be able to give you a better anwser

8gig ddr5 the tempory g card is a 2 gig ddr3 R270 I think it's the r series tho (I'm thing it's the different clock speeds between the ddr5 and the ddr3)

Thanks for response.

So basicly when you are buying RAM for your computer you need to be carefull that if you buy a stick of  8Gb ram ddr5 for example that if you ever infuture buy more ram it will work best if you buy the exact same one same frequency same size right because what you got now bottleneck your ddr5 ram with the shitty ddr3 so your ddr5 only works with the frequency that your smaller one has right. Which i believe is a source of your problems . To be completely honest with you your computer will probably run better if you only use the 8Gb one alone.

And thank you for the quick response, my ram is ddr5 but my graphics card Runs on ddr3, and due to my board not having onboard graphics, kinda not an options, so guessing that's causing a bottle neck... ah nutsack one problem after another lol against n thank you for the response.

Ow seems i missread i didnt know you mention your graphics card in first response i dont think that should be an issue with the graphics being ddr3 , may i ask what graphics card name is and your procesor aswell

And I am aware I've got some basic knowledge of pcs tho ddr5 is a new thing for me, the graphics card was given to me as a temporary replacement of my old Beast, and ah yes I just got your response so edited this one, I think it's an R 270 2gif (it's an r series radeon, number might be wrong) my processor is an Amd 3.6 gig quad I think, never had problems with my beast card when that black screened, I used older cards and that's when the issues started

Okey so ive seen what you edited

  • have you tried play the game on lower setting and see if there is any diffrence
  • Maybe set up parameters theres some usefull ones like preload the world and you pick Altis for example (how much video memory game can use , hyperthreading, cores ) basically very usefull stuff
  • Does it only happen on rpuk or have you got same issue in other mission files

Thank you. Settings are set to low, not tried anything else but Rpuk so will try that, I'm not sure how to set up parameters so that might be and idea, currently not at pc as I'm out but will try these when I'm at my pc next. Again thank you

So basicly when you start Arma in the launcher you have parameters tab there is a lot of usefull things in there. Experiment a bit with it im sure you can fix it by tweaking a thing or two . As for other missions files you can go try play the campaing or some scenario that is ingame and see if the crash occurs , if you get a blue screen it means you ran out of RAM memory. if its something else it has to be related to either video card or your cpu because arma uses cpu a lot to run. Hope you find a solution if not i hope someone else on the forum can add somth usefull not yet said all the best of luck to you.

PS i just realised a crucial detail you said it happends after an hour you could have a memory leak it sometimes happends in arma , when you get home try to verify game cache on steam, perhaps even reinstall ussualy fixes my memory leaks altrough it could honestly happen cause of a lot of diffrent stuff

Thankyou for your help I will try them, another note for admins since this was originally a question about what to do and what comes up in the logs to avoid being accused of combat logging (god forbid). And it's turned into a technical thread, I request if the Admins could move this to the appropriate forum thread. Sorry for any inconvenience to admins
