Is typing warnings over direct chat a valid reason to shoot and kill?

Theoretical question: If someone types over direct chat to put the gun down, is that a valid reason to shoot on sight?

Like most people, I pay little to no attention to chat. I'm sick of these bullshit RP'ers who shoot on sight. IMO typing a warning is NOT valid RP.

So, before reporting this player (Who is already the subject of a report and will probably be banned) I wanted some opinions on whether or not to. I hate seeing people banned but I'm sick of these weak RP COD gamers who don't belong on the server.

I've used direct chat to do that many times. No rules against it?

Shit roleplay though, surely?

I don't ever check it. Before reporting though, I just wanted to be clear about it.

You can't type a warning in real life so surely it follows that you can't expect a player to see a message in game. I did not see it and I was shot.

if you're having a conversation with someone, he is typing you are talking, and it's rp'ed that he is a mute, i guess you pay attention to the chat then, and would see if he gives you a warning.

if someones writes randomly for you to surrender or they kill you, i would feel rdm'ed

It was the latter my friend.

From my perspective I was shot on sight. He got shot by one of my friends and called RDM. He engaged RP when he killed me... But he had typed to put down the gun over direct and argued that it was legit RP after the event.

There needs to be  clear rules on this as it is not RP in my opinion and I did not notice it. I would have complied or fought back if I'd known.

My 10cents...I think it's ok kinda sorta....I mean it's easily abused, I bet in 90% of situations i've been in, I could have skewed them in my favour by using side chat rather than voice.... It's very, very easily abused.

I don't like it much. (e.g. if you're in a gunfight you're looking at that people shooting at you not side, that's VERY easily abused).

Technically, according to the rules they are communicating though - but I think it's objectionable.

not everyone is lucky enough to have a mic, and why should we refuse them to rp with us, maybe they should stay away from weapons and killings if they're forced to give warnings in direct

No one should be playing on altislife.co.uk without a working mic and a good grasp of English. It makes for shit RP even when you eventually see what they type. That's if what they type didn't just scroll out of your screen because of an incoming 999 call or people disconnecting message.

Well, noted. If direct chat is a legit way to get out of RDM then I will use that in future. Unless there are specific rules then I won't waste admins time on a reporting players for pig shit RP.

The guy had a mic - He was in teamspeak FFS. He chose not to use it which ain't the same as a player that does not have a mic.

But like I say, if this is considered legit RP then I will happily abuse the rule in future as he did.

Agreed 100%.

BUT... If it's considered fair game then expect to seea LOT of people abusing the rules. I personally think it fucking sucks as rp. It's the RP equivalent of leaving post it notes around a room and expecting people to see them before you simply shoot them anyway.

Well, I type 3-5 Warnings before opening fire. This is only when were both in a vehicle. And i wait 3 minutes before actually opening fire, unless fired upon.

Only type in direct when I'm in a vehicle trying to pull someone over, shouldn't be on AL if you don't have a Mic.
