Is there any scope for a clean slate if you're on your last chance?

I was just wondering if there was a possibility for people on their last chances or with imperfect track records to be afforded some grace to coincide with the recent permanent unban appeal introduction. I can understand why there would be hesitancy towards this because there is potential for the system to be abused but I thought I'd throw the idea out there anyway.

My situation is chequered, as shortly after joining the server some 2 years ago I received my first ban out of complete ignorance and for not reading the rules and then shortly after returning in late 2015/early 2015 before getting back into the server properly, I was issued a ban that was borne out of pure petulance but since then I feel like I'm actually contributing to the server now that I have a firm understanding of things (and TFK swooping me up has helped massively). While it would never be my intention to jeopardise my position, the lingering threat of a ban over something otherwise trivial is a bit disconcerting because sometimes, for lack of a better phrase, shit can hit the fan and split-second decisions aren't always perfect. I may be wrong, but I feel like I may not be the only one who after a rocky start, has improved a lot over time and has some value. 

I understand if this is thrown out the window because I think the high standards set by the server contribute to its consistent quality but if there was any leeway for a system of grace if you were able to demonstrate it over a period of time, it could be helpful.

If you feel like you might still do something to get banned, don't join the server yet, read the rules over a few more times then if you think you can remember a lot of them (the main key rules) join the server and have fun

I think the easiest way to not getting banned even if you don't know all the rules, is just using common sense

That's pretty much asking to ignore your first ban. A lot of people have that problem and let's not kid ourselfs, if you read the rules by then this wouldn't happen.

But you should be glad now there's a way back to the server where previously there wasn't... there are some cases we can ignore the first ban depending on what it was. Example: First ban = NLR or a VDM, usually it's more lighter than raciscm or hacking.

I have had 2 bans in the past myself, a little spaced out. One was perhaps 18 months ago, the other was about 6 months ago, so I can relate to your position here. The general thing is to stay clear of trouble before it develops. For example, when I first joined, I was rolling with a group who just weren't serious about RP and disregarded the rules quite a bit. This wasn't necessarily me breaking the rules, but being around them meant I was just running the gauntlet and one day we had a miscommunication which lead to me (from their perspective) RDMing two cops with a LMG.

Being in a good gang REALLY helps keep you on the straight and narrow, and knowledge of the rules is something you shouldn't take lightly. If need be, have a sit down and really go through them, and everything you are unsure about you can ask the FLT (or me if prefer).

With my latest ban, it was entirely my own fault for running my mouth where I shouldn't have. Fortunately I got a hold of the admins and had a talk with them about it, and they seen although I had been banned in the past, that I had changed dramatically since then and that I wasn't going to be immature about the situation. If you treat the admin team with some respect and are sincere, then you are likely to be ok as long as you do everything you can to stay in the clear. Nobody expects you to be perfect, I think what is being asked if that you just give it your best shot and try to address any problems before they happen.

I'd also disagree with PC Owen on this one, in that I'd say get as much server experience as you can with somebody more senior. TFK are a good place to be for that and so letting somebody else lead any operations and make the calls on when to shoot, where to go etc will help you grasp why they are making those decisions. Or, you could go the other way and join the cops. The Academy tests your knowledge of the rules and will put you in artificial scenarios to test it too, and if you mess up there you won't be banned as the training center is for exactly that; training. It's the right place to find out what you might not know and you'll always have a mentor around.

I think you've misunderstood the crux of what I'm getting at; it's not that I'm unfamiliar with the rules, rather there are a lot of grey areas and it's sometimes easy for rules to be broken in split second decisions.

I know what you mean,  that's why I suggest reading over the rules a few times, really drill them in so you know the rules in heated situations. I know it helped me.

Also what other people suggested, try to join a well established gang, simply by hanging around people that are comfortable with RP and the rules will help you pick up on the finer details what you've mentioned, the situations that reading the rules won't help in.

If you can't find a gang to join, consider the police, it's great fun and there are always a lot of people ready and willing to help out
