If you are being robbed and have been clearly initiated on, can your friend who is around the corner just shoot the robbers or do you have to initiate back on the robbers, for example saying: "I have friends in the area, you better leave me alone or your head will get blown off."? My friends had this situation today and they were requested to compensate, they later came to me asking if they did the right thing and I started doubting so decided to make sure and ask here.

Yes and no as long as you state that your friend is around the corner but you would also have to rp that your radio is on  but you can’t initiate on someone by saying your friend is around the corner as you aren’t threatening them with a weapon

Its called common sense, a person with no gun poses no threat therefore they cannot initiate, its commonly known as "hobo initiation"

As long as you clearly state that you have friends in the area and you have had your radio on so they are aware of the situation, or broadcast over direct chat while you tell your friends on TS you are being robbed. And then explaining to the robbers that further actions towards you will result in your friends getting involved.

When it comes to initiating without a gun, its as Adam explains, if you don't have a gun you don't pose a threat to them and can not initiate.  Part of this is to stop groups from being able to initiate on someone with no risk of loosing gear and money by sending inn a "hobo" to do the initiation, having all geared people in safe locations. You don't wanna live in a world where you have to doubt the intentions of every hobo asking for help at the side of the road

Initiation is a thing of wonders. I've been on the server well over a year now and still find out different things about initiation every other day. The problem is, is that it's not black and white. A "good" initiation doesn't exist, it depends on the people involved. Also, different admins have different opinions on initiation I've found, which is bound to happen with such a grey area of a rule which is such a big thing.

Always inform that lethal force will be used and you should be covered.
Make sure its not "hands up or die"

And if someone initiate on you, if you wanna fight back, make sure the other part is aware of this by you saying you have friends / you will not comply and take actions back

And ofc, hobo initiation is nono, and bm as fuck
