indeed. i misused jquery's empty method, i intended to have it clear the text in the paragraph tag before sticking the updated text from a google sheet in there but evidently it didnt work as expected and i hadnt noticed before going afk

whongcheng's China News stream needed a bit of sizzle, so i made a mockup of an overlay and started to make a web page for an OBS browser source which has scrolling text linked to a google sheet which i can edit and have them update on the stream, so you're not too far off
