HOW TO CHANGE FOV TUTORIAL

SlimShady

Veni, Vidi, Vici.
Location
Krypton
Step 1: Go to Documents

Step 2:Go to Arma 3 - Other Profiles

Step 3: Go to your profile name you want to change FOV on. (for example mine would be "SlimShady".

Step 4: press ctrl F and type fov , after that you should have 2 results (fovTop , fovLeft)

Step 5: Depending on the FOV you desire change the amount after each fov.

BASICS:

FOV 100 = fovTop 1.19  fovLeft 2.12

FOV 90   = fovTop 1.03  fovLeft 1.83

FOV 80   = fovTop 0.89  fovLeft 1.58

ALL OF THESE FOV TYPES ARE FOR 1920:1080 PRIVATE MESSAGE ME FOR 4:3 / 16:10 Resolutions .

QUICK TIP:

A lot of people say changing FOV would make scopes zero differently...

That is NOT true !

only change that would accure is when you are shooting beyond zeroing range and you are aiming up/down it will be a smaller change but if you are within 1200 meters then you are 100% fine!

90fov pls, yeah 1st & 3rd person holding a weapon preferably :p

Only problem with FOV changers is it effects your scopes and makes them more zoomed out. I found that it affected sniping so I reverted back after playing on the field of view of 90 for 1 month. It also affects the RCO scopes as the markers for some reason dont center like they were before so when your aiming for a 400m shot with the scope you would be aiming a lot more than 400m causing your shots to not be accurate. This is just a warning for anyone who wants to make this change. Because the game does not actually have a fov changer implemented into it changing the fov through the cfg is not advised as it affects some factors of shooting where as some factors it makes better like 3rd personing around a wall.

Idd... and then there is BE. The day they decide that looking and taking advantage out from wider angle of 3rd person is not allowed... Doing stuff like this just come down to the fact that why in earth you would like to do it on a roleplay server anyway. And then If you need to ducktape it into your game it starts to ring my ethics if its not ment to be there, why would you be allowed to use it. I mean i can relatively easily get some reverse engineering going on the arma files also adding couble variables here and there, making my rounds in my magazine not emty so fast, or making my HP bar not go down so fast... In a perspective its just the same stuff what you are doing here, gaining advantage over others by the means what where not developed into the game.

stop whinging, changing your FOV doesn't give you any advantage during combat. it's mainly about preference. I have always used an FOV of 95 as thats how i prefer my game to look. 3rd person combat is the same regardless, and it is easy to look round corners and such without a changed FOV. It is an editable variable within the files, and if it wasn't meant be changed, I'm sure bohemia would be smart enough to disallow it.

useful link for custom FOVs: http://hia3.com/tools/ArmA_3_wide-angle_FOV_calculator_online_by_Hi,A3.htm

just put in desired angle, it will give you the things to enter
