How does everyone get gif's as pictures?

Recently just made a gif for my profile overhaul but apparently its too big. It literally only has like 10 frames. Anyone know why or?

The max filesize of your profile image is 0.05MB, so you'll need to downscale your GIF with certain websites/software like http://gifmaker.me/resizer/
