It would appear that Server 1 is hosted by OVH. www.ovh.com they're a pretty well known server hosing company. There are plenty of companies out there providing game server hosting, some with very easy to set-up control panels, but it all depends on the kind of Arma server you want to setup. Your best bet is to set one up on your computer first so you know and understand what it takes to configure and set up the server before you start paying money for one.I know this is an odd question, probably only the staff can answer but I was wondering who hosts server?
I'm just making a server for me and my buds and some of us are in different time zones so when I'm off they can't play.
Many thanks.
That's only LAN isn't it?If your wanting to host your own server manually, you may be interested in looking into SteamCMD which I believe is used to host the servers
By setting it up on my computer do you mean using programs like TADST?It would appear that Server 1 is hosted by OVH. www.ovh.com they're a pretty well known server hosing company. It's not (always) as simple as clicking 'Set-up Arma 3 Life/Exile/Whatever Server'.
SteamCMD is used to download and install the Dedicated Server Package. Technically, all servers will be hosted on the LAN they're connected to, you would need to do some network configuration and port forwarding to allow your server to be accessible on the internet. That's only LAN isn't it?

I suggest you head over to the mods own development forums and see what help you can get there. Don't pay money for a server that you cant get successfully working first, otherwise you're just throwing money awayI'm just running an altis life server. Whenever I run it like this
Host server - choose mission - load - and spawning.
They get stuck on waiting for client for ages and when I spawn I spawn on the spawn island.
I know I sound like a dummy but I haven't done any of this before. I have all the scripts and files there.
OK will do. I appreciate the help!I suggest you head over to the mods own development forums and see what help you can get there. Don't pay money for a server that you cant get successfully working first, otherwise you're just throwing money away
Have you installed the database connector, set up the schema and put in the details for your MySQL server into the extDB config file?I'm just running an altis life server. Whenever I run it like this

I mainly downloaded tonics files which came with the DB and that's fine and dandy. But the rest I'm unsure ofHave you installed the database connector, set up the schema and put in the details for your MySQL server into the extDB config file?
That's your problem then, you need to install and setup a MySQL server and set extDB up to connect to that. There are instructions on the new AltisLife repo here https://github.com/AsYetUntitled/Framework/wiki/Setup-ServerI mainly downloaded tonics files which came with the DB and that's fine and dandy. OK greato! So do I just need to follow the steps and I'll be good? That's your problem then, you need to install and setup a MySQL server and set extDB up to connect to that. There are instructions on the new AltisLife repo here https://github.com/AsYetUntitled/Framework/wiki/Setup-Server
Theoretically, if they have written the guide well, then yes. I've never ever used this guide to set one up since this guide was only first written 26 days ago, so your mileage may vary, yet, it looks like it should cover everything you will need.OK greato!
