Hello my name is ed, just thought I should introduce myself whilst i'm installing arma 3. I have read the rules, saw the article on vice and I am very excited to get involved! I have literally no idea what to start doing but any tips would be very helpful

Big welcome Mr. Ed! Hope you enjoy your time on the island, I would suggest saving up for a small truck and doing legal activities, at least until you have enough money to risk on drug running

Many thanks for the info guys! Also I know it's a stupid question and I don't wanna go on now this late just to try it out but what channel do you talk to people on? I was trying to communicate to people through the group channel and nobody was responding. Steam recognizes my microphone and the test mic setting within arma 3 can too, so I know it's not that. Is it direct chat? Seriously thats how new I am

No question is stupid mate. We were all new once  

Side chat (blue) - sends global messages to all civilians online. Used for non RP chat only. Also it is text only, no voice. 

Group chat (green) - used for talking to members of any gang you might be part of. 

Vehicle chat (yellow) - used to talk to people in vehicles. Can't be heard outside of the vehicle. 

Direct chat (white) - used to talk to people in your general area. This is how people talk in-game usually. Only voice for RP and if you need to say anything out of RP type //. For example,  "// sorry lag, can't hear you" 

Edit : should also note the community teamspeak is used by most players to talk out of game. Here you can chat with friends, get help from mentors and settle disputes with other players.

Thanks for that hen, thought I going mad before not being able to talk to people. Been having a technical problem with the launcher as well but I'll take that to the bug report instead of taking up more space ere. 

Thanks again for all the help, hope to see you topside in altis sometime, though not while you're on duty hopefully thinking more like getting some booze and hanging out, maybe celebrate my arrival haha
