4:59am
As i wake i turn over slowly to hit my alarm clock as it flickers to 5am on a bleak thundering, rainy day and unbeknown to me the most dangerous day i will ever face on Altis.
My name is Hamish Robertson, a virologist with the National Health Centre and consultant to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and have been staying on the Greek Island of Altis for the last 8 months.
I have been studying a new developing disease called hoboitis which has been moving its way through Altis over the last 3 weeks and has recently start to stricken the population of Kavala, i receive a crackly phone call from my colleagues in the UK to inform me the ECDC bio-hazard team are still a week away due to the weather conditions being to severe to fly from Greece.
9:13am
Reports at the hospital start to come in about increasing levels of violence in the city, i see a man run outside the hospital trying to grab a police officers weapon and is tasered and handcuffed, he is screaming "fuck the police" in a somewhat demonic voice and quickly taken away.
2:46pm
I hear over the tannoy system that all available medical staff to report to the accident & emergency wing, apparently a man stole a car from the Kavala Square and drove over 7 people before fleeing. I was scared, i made a decision to go home and try and leave the island.
3:37pm
I return home to find my wife leaning out the window shouting at people passing by, she utters things like "Hey how do i put my hands up" and "I'm new to this game", i nearly collapse as i have heard of and see a video of these symptoms before, it was the early stages of hoboitis and rapidly gets worse over 12 hours.
I quietly start to pack as much as i can and i suddenly hear a massive crash as my wife is standing at the bedroom door with my hunting rifle, i plead with her to drop the rifle to her reply "hunny it's a fishing rod", i grab the rifle and wrestle her to the ground as she bites my arm. I quickly grab the pair of furry handcuffs from the table drawer and cuff her to the headboard.
I realise i am now infected and my only real chance was a experimental vaccination we have been working on called NLR-15 which has not been human tested, I quickly reach for my medical bag, pop the safety cap off the needle and inject it into my heart for maximum effect as i slowly fade to black.
4:15pm:
I wake up a short time later and find my wife still trying to break out the cuffs. I know time is short before Kavala is overun by those affected with the disease (which i have nicknamed them Hobos).
I remember that there is a cargo plane leaving for Fiji in an hour from the Airport, i grab my suitcase, hop in my bmw and drive as fast as i can to the airport. The streets are filled with hobos, shouting, screaming. There is a hail of gunfire in the air, i even see a man walk up to a medic trying to attend to a wounded woman and shoots him in the head while giggling like a child.
5:03pm
The Altis police have locked down the airport and there is hundreds of people trying to flee, i push my way to the front and show my credentials and explain i may have the cure and must be allowed to leave to further develop it, i am granted one of the last remaining seats on the plane.
As we take off all you can see is explosions. buildings and cars on fire and gunfire as far as the eye can see. I was safe for now as we leave Altis forever.

The pilot informs us Fiji will not allow us permission to land due to the possibility of infection, however the pilot knows of an island near Fiji that may allow us to land and is called Tanoa.
We are some 50km from Tanoa when I hear a bang and we see a hobo climb through a hatch leading to the cargo hold, he is ravenous and foaming at the mouth, he runs to the cockpit shouting 5 seconds, 5 seconds and bites the pilot causing us to dive into an uncontrollable descent, there is sheer panic as the 20 odd passengers start crying and screaming, i see some parachutes and realise this may be our only chance, i grab one and fumble to strap it on as i see the rear cargo door open, the hobo runs back into the rear of the plane attacking anyone and without thinking i click in the straps and jump.
I don't see any islands only water as far as the eye can see, i drift towards the sea and encounter strong winds. my parachute gets tangled and i rapidly descend, i cut the main chute and deploy my reserve, it is nearly too late as i hit the water at speed and lose consciousness.
Unknown Time
A local man wakes me up on the beach as i struggle to cough up the water from my lungs, he is kind and offers me aid. He informs me that i am on Tanoa and his name is Wilco and he owns a beach front shop called Wilco's Fruit Shack
This is where my life on Tanoa Begins.
