Gang Bases ?

Guys , what happened to the good old days where gangs actually had gang bases ? Then seem to not exist anymore ? Would be good if someone could fill me into why they disappeared and if there's any plans to get them back ?

They dissapeared because certain gangs only used them for starting gunfights with the cops, taking cops hostage taking them into their base and starting a gunfight.
