I like it how you guys changed the colors of the logo to the france flag.
Respect for that.

I know what you mean, but most people in Europe don't think about them, they think Syria is full of terrorist.
Paris is way closer to them as the other countries affected by this war.

It's a shame that people think that way. On that terrible day, I believe 115,000 lives were lost to both terrorist attacks and natural disasters. It's a damn shame that most of the world will only remember Paris on that day.

What about Lebannon that got attacked on the same day?
I know about that, but like I said it's not close enough for most people so they don't really care or know about it.

Careful mate....
I don't try to make people mad or something, but that is just what I saw where I live.
Last few days everyone is talking about Paris and also on television you only see news about Paris.
Nothing about Lebannon.

sorry if I have offended someone.

You said nothing wrong. For western countries; UK and USA for example, news of a terrorist attack in France is a greater deal than an attack in Lebannon, purely because of geography and relations. France are traded with more, way closer to Britain and have a greater impact on western society than Lebannon. Nothing said here is offence, but a matter of perspective as to why people care more about Paria than Lebannon. I mean I'd never heard of the place, but the fact that Lebannon was attacked on the same day with the same methods, not to as great of a scale but heroes arose from there just like France and they get no appraisal or recognition. It's a subheading at the bottom of the tabloid papers when compared with France.

I only said about Lebannon because they know the pain much like France, but due to cultural differences they get no acknowledgement in comparison. It's quite disgusting in some aspects, but also understandable, and this happens throughout history, so it is nothing different ( I am talking about people caring about what goes on in different places, not the mindless slaughter of innocents )

It would be nice to see, somehow the Lebanse flag implemented into the community name alongside/ after the French flag, to show that we acknowledge and support them also.

Perhaps a changing logo? Like those flashing ones, but it somehow transforms into the lebanse flag then the French in a cycle? Or just simply after a few days change it from France to Lebanon then back to normal? Just to show our respects.

I don't want to sound callous or disrespectful because i'm not trying to stir anything up. But I dont think we should change the logo to acknowledge every act of terror.

I know that the attacks around the world were cold blooded murder on a mass scale and disgusting acts of depravity against humanity. But I think if we start changing the logo for one - there will always be calls to change it to something else, and you can't please everyone.

I think the logo should just be left plain, I like that the community wants to show solidarity with the rest of humanity but it can cause rifts and tension too. Maybe a banner or something and the community can always do a charity drive to raise money for a NEUTRAL faction like MSF, Red Cross that help out in these areas, no matter if it's the middle east, or central Paris, or North Belfast.

I mean in September here in northern ireland there was bomb threats or devices found every 2 days. That means for me going to work in the capital, there was a 50% chance i would encounter a bomb or disruption from one - but we dont see much of that in the media, yet this small part of an island has decades of terror, civil war, a rocky peace and ceasefire that's starting to crumble around the edges a bit.

Paris, Lebanon, Syrian Civil War, Boko Haram in Nigeria, Paramilitary action in Ireland, even mass shootings and other attacks in places like the US - these things happen a lot, and they can be a lot that weighs on minds.

Again i dont want to sound cruel, but i think having it plain stops people saying "BUT WHAT ABOUT COUNTRY XYZ?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

@Zeito essentially what I was trying to say, but in much closer to home terms and reasoning. Thank you, you nerd ;)

I'm not a nerd :(  I dont even wear glasses :(  (because i lost them and they make me look stupid. and nerdy)

there was a similar attack on a university in Kenya a few months ago where 150 students were murdered by the same type of people, there was no outrage here in th US or anywhere in the west. There was no breaking news, it was just a side blurb. I think it's racism, plain and simple. Brown people matter less than white people in the west. Look at what the French did to Haiti, Algeria and Vietnam, and what Israelis have been doing in Palestine for the last 50 years with western support and how South Africa had allies in the west for all of it's existence under apartheid. Brown people's oppression and death are counted as less of a tragedy here, and then we don't understand why or how they can be so outraged and willing to mobilize in response, so when they act out on it, they are viewed as merely irrational.

To all future posters of this thread, please think carefully and word your posts very carefully so this post talking about Paris does not turn into a argument or a fight. Remember that the Paris attacks are not just about Paris, it's about the world it shows just how fast your normal everyday life can be thrown out of place by forces out of your control.
