Relates to number of posts, exact numbers of when you get each one I'm not quite sure of but advanced member is one that most poeple have since it's about 50 + posts (or something around there)
When you get 500 posts you can edit your title to a custom one as you will see that I have done and many longer-time members have done this as well.

It's just a title. An as said above when you have 500+ posts you can change your usertitle
