Fixing the issues with Mechanic Police Jobs

Brief Summary:
Vehicles set to go impound by police should either not despawn for awhile, and/or come off the jobs list once despawned.

Detailed Suggestion:
Currently I have been mechanicing again after awhile for the last two days, and I have noticed a good supply of Police jobs. It looks great, as it finally gives mechanics a better way to make some extra cash, and a fresh perspective than the same usual routes.

However, over the last 2 days I have probably attended about 30+ police jobs and only being able to do like 5 of them. That's because to the 25+ I went to, I showed up to no vehicle there and had to delete the jobs, which is quite a large amount compared to how many jobs I went to total.

The most logical answer is that they were not there because they despawned, unless some maniac is running around at light speed stealing every parked vehicle in site. I have even had jobs that have just popped up for taking, I drive to the location, get there like 5 minutes later, and the vehicle is gone. It also doesn't help that our vehicles are slow so we cant even get to them before they despawn.

There are two routes that could fix this problem:
  1. (Not so preferred) Once a vehicle has despawned, remove it from the list of jobs.
  2. (Much more preferred) If a vehicle has been marked for impounding by police, do not despawn the vehicle till storm (or for like an hour, and then result to option 1)
The reason option 1 is not so preferred is because mechanics will still be losing a lot of jobs, but its better than travelling all that way to nothing. (Just aslong as it doesnt despawn mid-journey.

The Pros:
  • Keeps Police jobs around and do-able
  • Stops mechanics from wasting their time
  • Stops flooding the job system with jobs that cant be done
  • Encourages police to set vehicles for taking even if its in more remote locations
  • Stops mechanics endlessly looking around at other cars in the area resulting in more wasted time
The Cons:
  • Might slightly increase lag (I can't imagine too much with it being not many vehicles)

Does this suggestion change balance on the server ?
Absolutely not. It fixes an issue that makes the game more realistic and less frustrating for mechanics.

Much Appreciated,

+1, as G6, I've started to not mark vehicles for impound if I'm not gonna be in the area for the next 10-15 minutes. This would incentivize impounding cars far more.

If its not possible to keep vehicles from despawning, it could be an idea to make the system like the NPC jobs, where:
  1. Police/G6 sets vehicle for impound
  2. Vehicle details like type, colour, plate, location, rotation, etc. are stored
  3. Person accepts job and shows up to location
  4. Server checks if there is a local vehicle with the same plate or something near that location or just on the server
    1. If there is a vehicle already out, then let the Person take the vehicle
    2. If there is not a vehicle already out (Despawned), then spawn the vehicle in the location (whether its the same rotation and all that is optional)
  5. Let the person take the vehicle, and bring it to police impound.
That way, it spawns the despawned vehicle in like NPC jobs spawn the vehicle.
