Fairness of police fines

So i am pretty new to the server to say the least. Yesterday while heading to the cloths store to pick myself up a backpack to pick me some fine peaches a guy tried robbing my offroad...So like any innocent civilian i locked him in the truck as he drove it into a wall. I then sat in awe at the irony and waited for the cops to arrive. Upon police arrival I tried to speak to the officer who completely blanked me telling him there was a thief locked in my truck and then proceeded to letting him out. As you can imagine I found this rather annoying, on top of that the cop was still ignoring me for literally no reason so in the spirit of honesty i said "you're a shit cop" and "you just let the F***ing thief go and now you're ignoring me?"

This instantly got me restrained, understandable really...It's the next bit which is a joke.

The officer proceeded to take me to the police station stating I was 'drunk' and giving me (A guy who is still using the first 100k you get when you start the server) a £60,000 fine. Unable to pay this I was sent to jail for 25 minutes. 

For a server based around realism, I'm pretty sure in real life even if i was drunk and disorderly I wouldn't get a £60k fine ffs.

So my question, Is this what I can expect from this server? I would hate to see what I would get if i actully did something wrong.

To top all of that off there was a guy in jail with me who only had 10 minutes for multiple counts of robbery and man slaughter.

The maximum ticket is 100,000.. For offences against the public order act (this includes verbal assault of a police officer) we are allowed to issue a fine of anywhere between £1-100,000 (the handbook says £60-60,000 but we aren't FORCED to follow this, the officer in question clearly did) depending on how poorly the player is roleplaying or how serious the abuse. Now, if you can not pay the ticket or refuse to pay the ticket then you have three chances before we have to send you to jail for failure to pay the fine, regardless of what your crime was. 

I don't know who the police officer was that "ignored" you, but if it's a real issue the best thing for you to do is contact one of the higher ups and explain the situation, or contact the police officer his or herself via teamspeak. 60k is not a lot of money, and they would probably be willing to reimburse you should they see fit.

Now, if you're willing to stick around, give this another go and get in to some serious RP I would be more than willing to give you back the 60k so you can have a fresh start on the server.

You kind of brought it on yourself, this is an adult community which means there is no place to rude/abusive to anyone without any reason, you should have waited till he got to you and you wouldn't have been fined. Personally the public disorder act of 1986 is my personal favourite law in the police handbook, as if I get a rude hobo I can just fine them £60,000 and most likely as they are new and only have £100,000 they won't pay it, so I can send them to prison. 

Whoever that officer was I would like to congratulate them, as it seems they have been on patrol with me quite a lot, before you say anything that I am an unfair cop if you ask most people in the police, civilians and people from rebel gangs I'm probably one of the most lenient cops on the server, it's only when you throw in unnecessary insults is when I go straight to the handbook.

Would love to hear the Officers' point of view. I am curious as to why he approached the scene and then failed to listen to a civilian reporting a crime. I can understand your frustration and am sorry this happened to you. I am hoping there is a reason...and if so, the Officer can provide it. Unless you wish to provide a message to me and name them, in which case I will raise it with senior ranks and have it looked into.

Admittedly I was frustrated with the officer (not like it doesn't happen in real life) but giving a fresh player a 60k fine for such a small thing is like saying "you're new? I'm going to make your initial experience of this server game bad and make you start with £0" I mean the guy never even gave me a chance to explain anything. After he arrested me he wouldn't let me talk just speaking over me and then I was in jail. 

Ok so I was rude, I was angry and maybe i deserved a fine I can understand that. But playing a RP server where the cops refuse to listen? I still haven't made back the money i was supposed to start with.

Have you ever been point blank ignored in real life and not care?

Read the above comment by @The Riddler, he's a community mentor and an overall fantastic guy and you can speak with him in confidence and as a former SI and current SGT he knows his way around the police so he's a great person to talk to about these matters. You may have been ignored in game, but you will not be ignored on the forums or over teamspeak, we are a community here and take care of each other!
