FailRP Questions (And Submarine Query)

Hello,

I've been playing a lot recently and there have been a few things I have seen in-game that people seem to have mixed feelings about, regarding the legitimacy of certain role play.

I believe people not role playing in a realistic manner is refereed to as "failRP". I'll stick to that for now, but if you can correct me please do.

A lot of people like to drive past people who have guns pointed at them on the roads, so called "mugging" (doing their best to avoid knocking people over).

In a real life scenario, if I were driving and two people jumped out on me with pistols (not blocking the road), the chances of me hearing them telling me to stop are quite slim and I would certainly want to avoid trouble. For this reason I would carry on driving (and even increase my speed) in attempt to avoid contact with them. This is even truer if these people were dressed like outlaws. This might not be the case however if they had bigger guns, especially if they were pointed at me or stood in the middle of the road.

On Altis Life it is pretty clear that someone intends to mug you when they stand by the side of the road with their gun pointed at you. Would it be considered failRP to act based upon this (given that in real life the majority of the time if someone has a gun on the side of the road it is for some kind of non-hostile security purpose regarding the police)?

Furthermore, would it be deemed failRP if the driver simply drove past?

This bring me on to my next point, shooting people's car's wheels out.

As in real life, wheels can be shot out to stop a car in its tracks (pun anyone?). If a car drives past a mugging, is it realistic to shoot out the wheels of the car to stop it, or even shoot out the wheels before the car arrives if it shows no signs of slowing down - is this feasible to do in roleplay?

As pointed out by several people in-game, if the person in the car complies there should be no need to shoot out the wheels, however at least a quarter of my attempted muggings have resulted in the driver driving off. Baring in mind that pistols are extremely bad at shooting wheels out, it would be nice for clarification about when we are/aren't allowed to shoot the wheels.

And on to a bit of fear roleplay - the term "fearRP" was used on previous RP games, I don't know if it has carried over to Alts Life? Anyway, when people are mugged they often say they don't know how to put their hands up. If someone talks to me in this manner I always give them time to put their hands up and tell them the key combination, other than that I stick to (and get straight back into) roleplay.

A lot of people have said they don't know the key combination, spend ages pretending to get it to work and then run off. In these cases I have tried to shoot them instantly, could someone clarify if this is allowed (on both parties, them running away like that and me shooting them after a given warning).

I would also like to ask if people are allowed to run away in a situation likewise to this. If I have a gun pointed at their head and they start running, I don't think they should be able to run. If they run I also think I should be allowed to shoot them (apparently I am anyway).

In addition to this, if someone gets out of the car but has a gun on him, should I be allowed to shoot him? Every single case this has happened they person got out the car and started shooting at me. Every time I died.

The problem is they have more notice than me, I don't shoot until they shoot, and by the time they shoot I am dead... If someone gets out of a vehicle with a gun surely I should be allowed to fire at them, is this allowed if I warned them?

Finally, I would like to ask about submarines.

I've heard so much about them, everybody seems to want one (and so do I!), but I can never find out where they can be purchased.

Could somebody please clear up if there are submarines on this server, furthermore where can they be purchased if so?

Thanks in advance, I know these are a bunch of potentially "rookie" questions, but they seem to be bouncing around and I haven't found a clear answer for these particular cases.

~Joe

Edit: Changed title. I'd also like to add I was told in-game that submarines have been added more recently, hence why I am asking here as opposed to in-game, where there was an almost 50% split between people saying there are and are not submarines!

I wouldn't call this FailRP, yes you are technically avoiding an RP opportunity, but considering that most muggings on this server are just:

- Stop or I'll kill you.

- Knocked out

- Robbed

- Person runs away / steals your vehicle

I don't blame anyone from just driving away or turning around.

Furthermore, would it be deemed failRP if the driver simply drove past?

As above.

This bring me on to my next point, shooting people's car's wheels out.

As in real life, wheels can be shot out to stop a car in its tracks (pun anyone?). From my understanding, shooting tyres is fine, but honestly, I hate this.

I don't mind it so much if you've initiated RP and you KNOW 100% they've heard you, and they still avoid you.

But honestly, if someone shoots my tyres out, if I don't feel completely outnumbered... they should expect a fight, 'cos I'm going to give them one.

And on to a bit of fear roleplay - the term "fearRP" was used on previous RP games, I don't know if it has carried over to Alts Life? Anyway, when people are mugged they often say they don't know how to put their hands up. In these cases I have tried to shoot them instantly, could someone clarify if this is allowed (on both parties, them running away like that and me shooting them after a given warning).

If you tell them to stand still, put their hands up, and they run away... these people can't complain if they get shot. No issues here.

Still, try to give them a few warnings before the actual shot though. Also, most of these people shouldn't be breaking roleplay to say they don't know the key combination, but yeah, a lot of people simply don't know they shortcuts

I would also like to ask if people are allowed to run away in a situation likewise to this. If I have a gun pointed at their head and they start running, I don't think they should be able to run. If they run I also think I should be allowed to shoot them (apparently I am anyway).

They can run if they want to, its the stupid option that'll get them shot, but it's an option. If they're in a hopeless situation, I think only good roleplay is going to get them out of it.

In addition to this, if someone gets out of the car but has a gun on him, should I be allowed to shoot him? Every single case this has happened they person got out the car and started shooting at me. Every time I died.

If you've given them warnings before hand, or told them to stop, then RP is initiated, if they get out the car with a gun. Technically, as far as the rules are concerned, if you felt threatened, you can shoot them... but its considered to be Poor RP, considering that they might have just forgotten to put their weapons away before getting out the car. Up for debate this one, but from my perspective, its okay, but considered poor RP.

The problem is they have more notice than me, I don't shoot until they shoot, and by the time they shoot I am dead... If someone gets out of a vehicle with a gun surely I should be allowed to fire at them, is this allowed if I warned them?

If you warn them, and they don't put their guns down, from a rules perspective, no issues to shoot them.

Finally, I would like to ask about submarines.

Kavala boat shop, but I think you need a rebel license.

(I'm not going to quote to save people's eyes)

Thanks @Mycaelis for taking the time to write a great response, this will certainly help me and others out!

One of the things I have a problem with is that people get out of the car and have their gun out by default, if they start looking at me I really have no option to shoot or risk everything. I don't want to shoot them as soon as they look up, but it could be a case of either me or them. Any advice for this scenario?

Also I was told that a rebel license didn't make a difference for the submarine. You seem to know what you are doing though, so I might as well go and buy one! :p

Thanks again,

~Joe

I'm not 100% on the submarine... but all I know is that I can see the submarine and I have a rebel license.

Another guy previously on another post mentioned that he doesn't have one, and he couldn't see it at all.

As for if the guy gets out of the car with a gun...

It's a really tricky situation, because honestly, you can't know if they are a threat or not.

I personally always give them the benefit of the doubt, and give them a few seconds to put the gun away, or I start shouting at them to put it away and if they don't... then I'll probably end up shooting them.

If you do shoot someone as soon as they get out of the car with a gun, expect a long arguement and possible a report on the forums appearing with your name on it. As long as RP is initiated properly, you'd probably not get banned, but its just a lot of hassle where you can avoid it by just being a little bit more patient.

OK, well I try to do as you said, but recently it has almost been unbearable.

I wish I could record my gameplace somehow, I just don't have the specs to do that and have a controllable frame rate. I think I will stick to the "get out and put your hands up" speech, if they start pointing a gun anywhere near me I will just have to take the shot.

I've had people who seem to have a good reputation get out of the car and flat out shoot me, no roleplay whatsoever (despite the warning). Unfortunately it seems I might have to be a bit harsher on the n00bs who don't realize that when they look at me they point their gun at me :(

I don't want to be too harsh, as you said it's certainly a tricky situation. I'll just have to make it clear that I am ready to shoot before they get out of the car then. :S

I can confirm 100%, as i did this yesterday, the SVD requires rebel licence to be bought at boatshop for 1.499.999£

Max speed i have managed to get 23 kmh, trunk 45, max 2 persons.
