If I ever manage to afford one, what happens if it crashes? any insurance?

if you crash vehicles their will be in your garage again after restart, you only permanently lose them if the police scraps them.

If you crash it, it'll be gone until the next server restart.   Currently the only way it can be removed forever is if it gets scrapped by the police
