Bans are permanent, but a first ban will almost always result in a unban if requested. Only thing you need to do for that is post a topic saying what you did wrong, why you did it, then you confirm you read the rules and understand them and such a thing won't happen again. You provide your GUID (log in to any server and screenshot it, should be bottom left) and wait for an admin to reply.

What you don't do is:

Make multiple topics because you are impatient

Reply to your own topic asking how long it will take

Unban requests have a low priority.
