Computer Beeping...

First week back at school over, ready to play some Altis life just log on the next minute monitors go black/turn off. I wait a few minutes then turn if off completely and turn it back on again. That's when the Beeping starts. I've googled it myself and apparently I need to take out certain parts based on the amount of beeps and clean them? Anyone have any ideas or experienced this before?!?!

My PC is an alienware x51 (don't judge me :p)

6gb DDR3 ram

Intel i3 precessor

Nvidia gtx 645 1gb

Windows 10

But just looking from your part's I'd say your computer may have come to the end of the line

Turn everything off and then on, and boot up the pc. Count the beeps at startup and post here.

Note if they are long or short aswell.

That's what I presumed at first but after looking it up certain sequences of beeps mean different things from dusty RAM to a rekt CPU

Will do that as soon as I get back home.

Thanks for the reply guys!

What brand of motherboard do you have? Or the model if you know it

As Ross said, we'll need to know the amount of beeps and lengths of them before knowing the issue. Could be many different things at this point. Let's just hope it's something simple and not a costly hardware issue ;)

Are you still on warranty with dell? How long have you had the PC?

Based on his Graphics Card I'm assuming that will most likely be the culprit but until the beep count comes in can't be for sure.

yeah we need to know the number of beeps. Ususally but NOT ALWAYS, a series of regular beeps is memory related. Though they usually come up at POST when you turn the machine on. Considering it happens when you play a game, i'd lean towards GPU failure. Get a recording of the beeps

Yeah, best not to speculate when it comes to hardware failure though, could be anything really :p

Good evening tech support have you tried turning it off and on .... oh you have ??? Well fuck I dunno then ?!?!

as the others say post the amount of beeps, but electronics come with a default 2 year parts warranty mandated by the EU, but Dell also provide additional cover which is up to 3 years. Its well worth checking you have this before you start rummaging around your case, its on each purchase by default and you need to remove it whilst speccing the machine out to get rid of it, so you may well likely have decent cover.

Just call them is easiest.

Well first thanks for all the replies guys! And I have had the PC since October 2013. I'm unsure about the warranty but will check it out. I have recorded the beeps they are 2 consecutive beeps with a few second gap in between.

yup sounds like a ram issue, Feel free to pop the side off, remove all the ram sticks, blow away any dust, and then reseat 1 stick and then test. if successful, add another and repeat till all are back in.

Just to add to this, if it fails when adding one, try with the other sticks until you find the culprit and all others are back in.

There is only two sticks in it a 2gb and 4gb so is it necessary for doing it one at a time or just do the two at once?

Have you installed ram before? If not have a quick google how to do it and make sure you know how first. It will void your warranty (most probably, although my guess is its already up). Before you do anything check if it appears to be sitting abnormally etc then if it looks fine (im going to assume it's very dusty) blow dust off  the sticks and then remove them , blow dust off (make sure you hold the corners of the ram, nowhere else) the bottom and reinstall them. Boot and hope :)
