Community reputation

So i was wondering how community reputation works on here and if some one could explain it to me or point me to where this question has already been answered ​

We all post on the forums which adds to our "post count" in which you can see displayed on your profile and when you reply to a thread. Reputation is a little incentive for posts to determine whether they well responded to. They may be funny, informative or even helpful. Someone likes your post? That's a plus reputation for you and so on, some people take it quite seriously and have a high ratio Posts:Reputation. @Ned Stark
