Common Sense on Forums etc.

I wanted to raise a question about identities on the forums and in-game. As everyone knows the server and community a a whole are pitched as an Adult Community, but i feel some people aren't exercising this with relation to in-game names, forums names, avatars etc.

I don't know the exact standing of how this applies etc, but i know for example racism isn't tolerated in gang names - but what about Common Sense/Adult Community, and showing respect in all aspects of things.

I've seen a few player names that on the surface are a bit childish to be honest - overly sexual references, crude etc. Not to directly point fingers but I have seen one player in-game with a name that would suggest they are a Proctologist, though a bit more crude. There's also the RAFTS of players who join and are called 'Windows 7 PC', 'User', 'Computer' etc. Can we add something to the rules/splash screen about having a proper player identity set up before you play?

The next point is forum avatars etc. I know at least one user was asked to change their forum avatar as it could be considered offensive to some groups as it depicted a proscribed organisation. Though i see people who have ISIS (or ISISish) avatars. Specifically it looks to be Jihadi John. Where's the respect and adultness there? If you think Terrorism is 'cool' then you need to rethink some things.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not some held-back prude, and this isn't a go at anyone, but can we have a bit of growing-up done on forum names/player names/avatars on the server? If anything having actual proper player identities will aid somewhat in reports and appeals when you're not looking through pages and pages of 'User' players.

Just a thought - and I'd welcome peoples comments on it

The forum needs clearing up, if your forum name doesn't match your in game name, then you should profile link them at least.  Plus the decency should be maintained, so throwing your toys out of the pram on here, should, in principle, be treated in the same way as on Server.  I think the arguments and disagreements would be much more 'adult' then....

I'll concede that 'immature' etc. is open to interpretation between people but as an example - if the babe in your pic was getting actively railed, that'd be a different kettle of fish.

Personally, I think the avatar is fine as well, but I could see some other people disagreeing.  Just as much as pretty much anything in life these days.

Yeah I'd agree, there may be people who find it offensive - but (without generalising too much) i'd say these may also be the type of people who find shooting hobos in the face offensive.

In game names such as 'DavidonPC' (example) and other such names that include numbers 'j4m3s' or whatever shouldn't be allowed because that's not in any way going to be near someone's real name, or slightly 'serious'.

ive seen a gang name with 'anal' and 'Ku Klux Fedora' which I don't think should be suitable. These are childish and some people may find them offensive, no?

I'm someone who feels very strongly about things like this. I believe this, people can be who they want to be, black, white, gay, bi, man or woman, Catholic, Muslim, non religious etc and they should be allowed to do so without being harassed or attacked for it.

Im gay and I have to hide it from my family every day as it would really offend them. I happen to not like at all the 'normal' way of procreating, it sickens me and that is just me. I have fallen in love with the loveliest boy ever who loves me with all his heart and that seems to be a problem in some people's eyes and that's not fair.

why am I saying this? I think it relates directly to your post. The childishness on this community needs to be stopped. People get banned for RDM daily but the homophobes and racists seem to be running round free. I know it's harder to catch etc but yiu can be compensated for RDM...there's no way I can be myself to my family and that can't be compensated for. It can't be compensated for that people like me get bullied and attacked purely because we love the same gender. It's shit and the people who make people feel bad about themselves should be locked up and treated like the criminals that they are. We say that racists are criminals, but a measly slap on the wrist when they say bad things is not good enough and the country needs to start putting these resits and homophobic prejudice people away where they can't hurt people.

On to the forums and this community, I think tgis needs more attention. The admins will ban them if they get caught, but it is our job to bring it to their attention.

I think, personally that if anyone is caught being homophobic or racist or whatever prejudice they hold, they should be banned immediately without appeal, ever. We don't want people like that in this mostly lovely community. I also think it should be a police matter and they should get locked away.

Will me saying this make anything different? No of course not. I am Matt freeman, nobody knows about me. Nothing will be raised because of this but I would like, if you would, to raise more awareness about this. There are a few people like the people I have described that come in the community and they need to be banned as and when they do arrive. 

Forum avatars that advertise prejudice should get someone's account banned, sigs that contain defamatory remarks about any kind of religion or lifestyle should get someone banned, any comments that are defamatory should get the account banned

there is no reason to defend these kind of people and we cannot allow people like that into this community.
