Changes to Police cuffs

This suggestion mainly targets an unfair (in my opinion) playstyle that i've seen from police characters where they will handcuff downed players during fights or in positions where they have to be escorted to get out (inside buildings, enclosed areas etc). Many times this feels like an active decision by the players who do this, knowing that this causes the cuffed player to be locked in place until they're grabbed by another officer or lockpicked out by a civ, to me this feels like a sort of power game move since realistically you would be able to handle someone in cuffs in the same way you'd handle someone in ties...

- a simple solution to this would be to allow anyone to escort someone in cuffs the same way we can if they're in zip ties.

Another fun idea I had was to remove police having infinite cuffs, as in, you carry one set of cuffs which allows you to cuff one person.
Once you cuff someone, the cuffs are removed from your inventory until you take them back. This would partially solve the above proposition as police would carry zip ties to restrain people once they've used their cuffs (much similar to what they do IRL). If this was implemented, some restriction on how many cuffs you can carry at once would need to be put in place aswell.

I've never understood why people couldn't escort people that are in cuffs, I thought it was just in case someone tries to troll, but regardless that's an issue for the forums if that's the case.

Im not sure if I remember correctly but if I am I think you're also not able to place them in a vehicle when they're in cuffs (Might be wrong).

+1

Could make it so that the max they can carry is 2/3 but overall a good suggestion.

I like the physical use cuffs idea +1

+1 - I've never been a fan personally of cuffing someone after/during a gunfight, imo medical RP should be prioritised given the situation and then the processing can be handled at hospital, players already lose all their items once checked in.

I agree with this, it doesn’t make sense for police to have infinite cuffs.

+1 "AHH POLICE MAINS ARE GONAN DOWNVOTE THIS ONE REEE I'M CRINGE" anyway yeah I like this, I used to always carry zipties on my cop character as a secondary option to handcuffs because the firearms outfit displays Zipties on the back of the vest (for immersion purposes)

The only downside I can see to this is baldies spamming the escort keybind because when you have someone escorted in cuffs, if someone else does the escort bind on you it removes that person from your escort, thats the only downside I can see for this but +1 overall

Good point! that should probably be stopped imo, doesn't make sense to just run up and grab someone you're already holding on to!

I agree tbh, the amount of times police will ask me to cuff the person I'm helping before I get them up on their feet is honestly too much. It's not like they would be allowed to pull a gun or a knife and attack the police anyways so why not at least let them up on their feet before slapping them into cuffs. I feel like that would allow for much more roleplay to be had instead of being in cuffs before you can even think of making a run for it or calling for help.

doesn't stop people from doing it, it's as with most things, a case of "rather safe than sorry" on that regards

Problem here is you suggest multiple different things at once.

Regarding escort cuffed players:
Generally I see this very critically since it's already hard to handle some dudes in cuffs. It already happens too often that people drive next to downed and casually load them into a car since the mechanic is somewhat easy. If now everyone goes ahead and just grab someone in cuffs and I assure you it will happen, since people calculate the fact that police won't shoot right away. They would literally be a nuisance and interrupt the roleplay. Furthermore, when you escort someone and don't let it go, no one else can grab it. So unless force is used many wouldn't give a fuck since they know, police wouldn't/couldn't shoot .

Many have taken the piss and just attack police after being helped up with. Since they don't roleplay that they were just incapacitated.
I don't like it either to cuff downed people but it evolved out of bad experiences over time. Since a win is more important than roleplay. And irl injured criminals would be cuffed as well to the stretcher and the weapons would be taken off him.

Not to say this doesn't happen whatsoever but could it be that on occasion where you see people as ''being a nuisance'' players with legitimate RP reasons are trying to save the persons in cuffs? I can understand that a change like this will affect police procedures/tactics but would you care to comment on the ones I've outlined above in relation to this? there is a trade-of here and from my POV this change is much needed. Im confident that police players will be able to adapt and find solutions to this change, positive ones!

Crim players will agree with you all day on this, in my opinion its a NLR breach to attempt fighting right after being revived but as we've seen time and time again in the report a player section its not always as straight forward. Also, im not sure i understand the comment ''Since a win is more important than roleplay''? when you cuff someone mid fight, take their weapons etc arent you the one securing the win at the first oppertunity? where is the common ground here?
