Hello good people of Altis. My name is Tom (Orc) and I'm sure a lot of you know me as I've been here for just over 3 months. If you don't, then nice to meet you.
I've decided to start writing hand books about different jobs as many new citizens of this fine island don't know what to do or how to get started. I felt it would be appropriate to start with Bounty Hunting.
1) Is the PDW a tazer? : Yes, the PDW is a tazer and can be bought from the bounty hunter HQ. (However, it can only be used on wanted criminals).
2)When is the bounty paid? : The bounty is paid when you, the bounty hunter, sends the perpetrator to jail by pressing the "Left Windows Key". (This can only be done from areas such as a police HQ or the Bounty Hunter HQ).
3)Does the criminal have to be alive? : Yes, the criminal has to be alive in order to receive a bounty.
3) Can we use other weapons while bounty hunting? (Legal & Non - legal) : I presume you can. Although, it is very possible that you will be arrested if you end up killing or attempting to kill a criminal.
4) Can we catch criminals before they are in the wanted list? For example, you see a citizen breaking into a house or robbing someone? : I believe you can yes. Just like a normal police officer, if you see a crime unfolding role-play with the criminal and if necessary restrain him by pressing "Left Shift + R" just like a police officer.
5) Is there a "Search for drugs" button and/or a "Check licences" button? : Not as of yet, there is only an "Escort Player" , "Un-Restrain player" and "Send to jail" button.
6) Is it necessary to wear the bounty hunter equipment? : I believe you have to be wearing the bounty hunter uniform in order to taze and/or restrain a criminal.
7) How do we recognise criminals without metagaming? The police have an ANPR scanner to do this if they are in a car. : Well, you will just have to roleplay by asking the criminal his name just like the police do if they can't ANPR Scan a car. I can say this from experience, both from a Police Perspective and a Bounty Hunting one.
8) Do bounty hunters have a picture of their targets that can be used to identify them? : I believe not - They buy tipoffs from civilians which will show them where to go and you could use that in your roleplay. e.g. "We have been informed a man of your description has been sighted doing ......" So, not a picture but a description. (If they change clothes or tell you a different name you can't "arrest" them - but you can RP with them and question them/finger scan them e.t.c. - It is about 2030)
9) Can bounty hunters shoot first ask questions later? : I wouldn't think that Bounty Hunters can "shoot first, ask questions later" .... Can police? No. RP with them - ask them questions e.t.c. and only taze them if they run away.
Remember - Bounty Hunters are in no way, shape or form above the law! (They can still be arrested).
