Barrier at Pier

Hello all,

After endless pursuits and situations whereby the RP is brilliant me and many others have noticed that the pier is basically a get out of jail free card to people nowadays to just shoot all the way off at the end whereby they can then decamp and escape. Don't get me wrong I think that people can and should drive their cars into the water following a chase but I think that the pier is being used too often.

I think the simple placement of a barrier at the end would prevent this jump into the water. Me and other officers from RPU have recently been placing our concrete barrier here to prevent this from happening but I think it would be great if this was covered as aggreed with other people I have spoken to. This will in turn lead to more prolonged chases and hopefully more creative ways of ending a pursuit.

Pros -
Alternative RP at the end of pursuits
No more (borderline stuntjumping) into the water after every pursuit

More creative escape for crims / civs when getting away from police

Cons -

Small amount of time to place hard barrier in location for devs

(People might get a bit mad ngl...)

Police have the equipment to dive and search the water - do they not?

Criminals still have to get out somehow and I would argue that diving underwater and trying to hide is better/more creative than just decamping and getting tasered.

-1 Let the crims carry on with their pursuits (in their own way) and if you don't catch them, just try again. No need to get dev's to add something to stop them.

Alternative RP at the end of pursuits - This just reads to me, as "allow police to win more"

At the moment, escaping from any police chase is hard enough as it is.

Not only contending with speed cameras that automatically ping you to all officers on duty, the FTS notifications that GPS to the exact location you are but recently having to put up with what can only be called the "rocket league" meta of being smashed around at 140MPH by multiple cars, even when you're on a moped or on foot.

Seems like Police just want to win more situations and chases by implementing more stuff to win against the already struggling criminals

Is there even a need for this? For all i know people jumping of the pier with a vehicle is fail driving as far as i am aware so if people do it just report them or talk to them on TS.

It still doesn't stop them from stopping their car on the pier and jumping off but jumping of with the car IMO is fail driving.

I do want to clarify that I have no issue with people going into the water as a method of escape... as mentioned by people above MPO etc assets can be deployed and NPAS etc. However what my point is that it is a stuntjump on the OG game and borderline falls within this rule but again I havent really had an issue with it until speaking to others about it from both sides. I think that the jump is a bit too high to be sending cars off at 100mph... for me it would make the alternatives to entering into the water via other methods better and more creative.

This isn't for a winning reason at all, me personally and people who know me closely know that the one thing I love is a good chase and I hate having to make contact with people as they enter onto the pier to prevent them from causing further loss / dam to property etc and I would much rather people send it off alternative ways leading to more dynamic searches for the DP.

This suggestion probs comes off on the wrong foot and isn't a nessessity but was interested to see what others thought about it so there isnt an echo-chamber around an idea which commonly happens nowadays...

no, just use MPO assets more than they already are, everyone can get trained to have scuba gear and boats
