banning players without a microphone

Hello, I noticed there is a discussion about banning players who do not use mics. I understand why this is an issue but then again I don't. For instance I use a mic no problem as it is better and perfect for a roleplaying game. My friend on the other hand who has a mic but English isn't his primary language, he can type in English no problem, but has a little trouble actually speaking it. We've made a group and put in quite a lot of hours into the server and have gained so much like weapons, vehicles etc and it would be a shame to see him be banned simply because he doesn't use a mic. You might say "well he can join another server that suits him" but your server does suit him perfectly and he's never had any problem roleplaying with the community.

If his english isn't perfect, he can RP as a foreigner. Someone who is hard to understand is better than someone who you have to type to. When it comes to combat or robbery, it just doesn't work if I am itchy and want him to drop his stuff and he is typing his reply.. This is serious roleplay and that HAS to be done through voice.. I would advise your friend to just try. It would probably make his English better as well if he just spoke it =)

Use server 2 ... Server 1 is microphone only to increase the quality of roleplay

Its something that bugs me and alot of people when you take the time to roleplay and someone is standing infront of you typing

roleplay as his translator

He has said that playing on Altis Life has improved his English by quite a bit actually haha. I know it must be frustrating but like some other guy has said, I can roleplay as his translator.

Would it be okay for me to roleplay as his translator? I know it is quite annoying trying to roleplay with someone without a microphone. He has been playing on English Altis Life servers over 89 hours and has never had a problem and his English is a lot better than it was before playing Altis Life. He just doesn't think people will understand him if he speaks it through the microphone.

I know a few guys whose English I know has improved greatly.

I know a few guys who speak English who's improved in their language skills.

If he want to have a greater confidence in his English language skills the repetition of speaking it will do wonders.

Personally I wouldn't have a problem with this. As long as he made an attempts to communicate with us. I do remember one quite fun occasion when I spent 15 min trying to explain to a Portuguese guy why he had been arrested and he was slowly getting more and more agitated by it all. Eventually I found out he was portuguese and radio'd in and it just so happened he had an officer that could speak the language. He then came over as the translator and it turned out to be a slight misunderstanding about what was going to happen to his helicopter than caused all the screaming in the first place and he actually turned out to be quite a nice guy with a decent sense of humour.

I have in the past RPd with a friend that he was deaf and mute so only communicated through sign language. Which made it quite difficult when we got pulled over and he got restrained. But non the less it was all RPd with the cops at the time and great fun was had by all.

The rules are there to increase the RP and fun for everyone. If you can think a bit outside the standard RP situations and come up with something creative then there will be no issues, if anything you will be recognised for it and members of the community will want to interact with you to see what you will do this time.

I sometimes play late at night, when I get shouted at for talking. Obviously, at these times, I can't play as a medic or a cop (who absolutely need a microphone to do their jobs), but what I will do is fly around in my Huron and type. The reason I type is because, even with earplugs, a lot of people simply cannot hear me speaking in direct when inside with the blades spinning, plus it gets me off the hook for not talking! I will switch to a microphone, and simply talk very quietly, if I need to.

I do find it frustrating when this sort of thing happens, however, in regards to talking to someone who is typing. You'll find that I'm one of the more patient ones, but even I have my limits.

Would love to see someone act as a translator... you would need to explain to the person infront you that hes from "x" country and you are his english translator.

He would need to speak to the person fully in x language and then you would translate it into english and when the cop/ person your roleplaying with says it back in english you will then say it back to him in X language all in game...

If that happens ... in itself would be great roleplay :)

We could setup a 'Translation service gang'! I could do English, Welsh and Danish. *grabs potato ready for when someone needs to talk Danish* @Shepred @
