I just attempted to join the server but found myself banned for 'Hacking on spawn island but not in lobby'. I assume this was an error that occured when I tried to join but obviously have no evidence to prove myself innocent as I wasn't in game. I would greatly appreciate it if this could be fixed. Thanks.

I should also add that I was experiencing some issues with my connection as I was trying to join and once or twice I lost connection whilst joining. I think this was probably the cause of the issue.

Phew. I'm glad you came back to report this. I banned you during a fairly massive hacking attempt that was going on on the server. I found you seemingly 'spawned' (as in, you weren't marked as in the Lobby), and on 'Spawn Island' - where all players start their game initially before they are teleported to their chosen starting location to begin the game.

Rarely, people with lagging or problematical internet connections will find themselves temporarily stuck here on spawn island and technically 'in-character'. Sometimes they even move around, which confuses matters for any spectating admin.

Even more rarely, some folks will physically fly themselves to Spawn Island in a helicopter, or travel their in a boat, and begin to murder players who are in 'spawn limbo'... with obviously chaotic results. These ones we ban immediately, until proven otherwise.

I did have my doubts, but your timing and possible status were a bit 'hacky' (or seemed it) at the time (sometimes, some hackers launch their scripts from within the lobby, or in that 'greyspace' between lobby and actual spawn). So I acted in haste to safeguard the server. Later, when I found a definite hacker, I wondered if you were innocent, or involved by association, or, well, whatever, really. I kinda hoped you'd show up to plead your case, if you were innocent.

So - that said, you're unbanned. Clean slate. Sorry for the inconvenience but hopefully you can see how this happens, and continue to enjoy the server. We act for your protection, ultimately!

(TBH - checking the banlists, it looks as though I've already removed you... I had a recollection I did that on the 15th when the hacker returned with a new GUID (several), and I was in the file again. Please let me know if you're still banned - complete with the full text of the message, please).

Eh.. Hi again. I just tried to join after quite a while since my last time and it appears this ban is back in place. I don't know if this was caused by the new server somehow..? It's exactly the same as before so I assume its not a separate case. Thanks.

Hi again. Yes, it looks like Wilco copied over one of the old bans.txt files from somewhere, and that must've had your original ban in it. I've now located it, removed it again, and hopefully you can get back on the server.

What can I say, other than an abject apology. Sorry about this. Moving servers was rather a challenging experience for all of us, not helped by the fact that I wasn't here for the first bit, and now Wilco is on holiday for the second phase! Such is life. Hope you'll try us again and return to the server soon.

Regards

Ed
