I believe it's a bug. Unsure if it's Arma or the server. However, you usually have to take off the attachments before putting it into your backpack otherwise they get deleted.

If you put your gun with the attachments on in your backpack they will disappear best way to avoid this is find a quiet spot and have your gun and attachments out when you log off or take them all off and put them inside your backpack. MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS SYNC YOUR DATA.

When you change clothing, or backpacks, etc. It's the same as when you get disconnected from the server. It will erase any attachments attached to guns in your backpack. Always disassemble guns when you put them into your pack. Or keep the gun in your hands, otherwise you will lose them. Pain the in arse I know, but nothing can really be done about it, its an Arma3 thing.
