Arma Problems

Right, I am forever trying to fix my frame rate for Arma and ALUK. I've had my uncle round ( he's better with computer ) to try and help me gain frames and stabilise my frames. (40/60 outside cities and 20-40 inside )

i can run Arma for a while with minimal frame staggering. However the staggering gets worse, and some days are better than others; on Monday I can run Arma with no problem for half-full restart on ALUK, but on Tuesday I can run for half that time.

Would anyone know why? Or give me some tips on how to sort it out?

i have;

GeForce 750ti

nvidia 650 ( dedicated to physx )

i5 3570k ( I'll double check when I get home )

8gb crucial hyperx ram (DDR3(I think it's what it is called )

stock cooling fan ( upgrading when I get my uncles spare one )

crucial 250GB SSD ( brought for Arma and system )

some shit Samsung business monitor ( free from dads work)

a HP monitor ( don't remember the name )

samsung 1TB HDD (some old thing I got plugged back in the other day)

windows 8.1 Pro ( windows 10 soon hehe)

I only ever run Arma and teamspeak at the same time, maybe Google chrome or the steam browser.

I purposely turn Mcaffee continuous scanning off when I play, I have scanned for viruses, done a ram check, and other tests (I don't remember their names)

I have also set the Arma parameters to run at my settings ( that's a lie my uncle done it ) and I ensure my system/drivers/software are up-to-date every other day.

so if anyone good with computers could get back to me on here/pm/Ts and advise me on what I could do to maintain stable frames I'd be forever in debt to you!

You would need to upgrade your CPU for better frame rate along with getting a better cooling for it, ATM the CPU is most probably overheating hence why it gets worse over time. If you can get arma on an SSD but its not necessary. A big tip from all from all big time computer builders is never EVER use the stock cooling fan xD it can ruin your CPU quicker than you would expect.

Only using th stock fan temporarily whilst I wait for my uncles spare ( I did have a good one but o broke the pegs on it( I'm a twat )) and after 3 hours of playing my cpu is still around 39-55 degrees so temperature shouldn't be a problem.

i see people running all ultra on ALUK with a 3.2GHZ and lower graphics cards than mine.. the logic is not there.

thank you anyway, I'm hopefully going to invest in a 4GHZ soon anyhow

I dont think it's your CPU. My previous PC was running Arma on a 2700K and a 2gb 770GTX and it ran fine on mediumish settings.

Are you using nVidia Geforce Experience? Make sure you let it set ARMA to it's optimal settings for your pc - you'll get much more stable frames.

I would take out the 650 for PHysx too, it's going to be generating un-needed heat and the 750 can do the physx on its own.

How much VRAM does the 750ti have? 2gb? If you're playing arma across 2 screens on that GPU, its probably knackering your frames a bit. Try disconnecting the second monitor so your GPU isnt rendering Arma, plus  a desktop/applications, or isnt trying to render arma over 2 screens.

Edit RE Stock Fans - The stock CPU is cooler is FINE to use, it is designed and rated for your CPU. If you are overclocking your CPU however, then you should upgrade to a better cooler. The stock cooler is by no means designed for high-temp overclocked CPUs.

If you google for and download Speccy, it will monitor your temps of components, play arma on 1 screen and have Speccy opened in the other screen, if your cpu is hitting >75C then it's getting way too hot an your stuttering may be thermal throttling.

GPU is fine to reach in excess of 85C, depending on how good your airflow is.

Just a random suggestion here.

Make sure that your global settings are set up correctly here.

Especially Single Display Performance Mode and Prefer Maximum Performance. I have found that they make a big difference.

Thank you @zaF changed the settings and will be testing them out tonight;)

@Zeitgeist0190 my 7050TI has 2048MB GDDR5 ( just read the box )

Just to clarify, i have teamspeak open on one monitor and arma on another ( so i can see who joined and who is speaking without tabbing out )

I will download 'Speccy' and monitor my stats when i play tonight, and i'll post the results late tonight/ early morning. Thank you for the advise!

Also you saying that you have Google Chrome open , try to close it , because my game always crashes while google chrome is open or when i tab out to Google Chrome.

Salty

The CPUs frequency does not matter too much, anything from 3.2 upwards is fine, its the architecture that matters. But you're CPU isnt even that bad (cos its intel). How long have you had the system cause it could just be warn out
