Arma crash/ Texture problems

This has been happening to me ever since I got my new PC. Use to happen every hour/2 but now it happens ever 30 minutes no matter what multi-player server I'm on. Now this only happens in multi-player never has happened in Single player or the editor.

What happens is after a certain amount of time the game freezes for a split second then works, but when it comes back my FPS drops to 1-2 (from 25-30) All textures go to hell, I.E Helicopter blades disappear, people disappear all I can see is body armour, gun and hat. Clothes drop to the floor.

Video of the latest problem: http://plays.tv/video/57169b484545bea984/s

So my PC spec's are.

Processor: Intel core i7-4930k CPU 3.40GHz

Ram: 16GB

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 8990

I have no idea why this is happening, I've tried allocating ram to Arma, hasn't worked. This (I think) has started effecting other games, Fallout 4 has texture glitches, didn't when I first played it on release.

I'll tag @Zeito

Try your Graphics Drivers, you may need to update them for your current OS and card. I'm not a Tech Guru, but that's where I'd start, if you haven't already.

dont think OS matter, ive player arma 3 on windows 7/8/10

but it looks like its overheating or something. you know, cant keep up with the constant refreshing frames

im no tech guru either but id try to monitor my specs if that happend to me

first of press ctrl+shit+delete then go into the performance tab to monitor activity and RAM usage

also download and use http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ which will monitor the temrature of gpu/cpu and their fan-speed

when you get that graphic bug thing again, tab out and check all the specs. So have the softwares running in the background

Regarding the RAM problem it does spike heavily after the problem to 2GB or 20GB (I'll get an accurate mark once I play arma again) @Quantum

But this problem seems to be getting worse, this if the problem which I'm facing in fallout 4. http://plays.tv/video/5716e5770cc411b2f9/glitch-problem

Now the problem differs from different objects each time. No idea why. Systems seemed fine, everything was running ok. Tried truing down my settings on fallout doesn't help at all in that or the problem in arma.

Those artifacts make it look like an overheating issue, what temps are you getting while under load/idle?

Yeah, Im going to go with Overheating at this point in time as well, You are most likley going to need to either (I prefer #2)

  1. suck out the crap with a hoover (dont let the fan spin up, clean that with a paintbrush carefully)
  2. dismantle the heatsink off the card and give it a real good clean getting all the crap out (clean the fan with a paintbrush carefully)
Also worth looking at is the configuration of your fans in your computer what direction  and where are they placed and where it is located in your room, e.g. floor, desk, under desk, cupboard, if it is a heat issue.

So I've given my PC a good clean around the fan and heatsink (least I think it was) and moved it into a more open space for the fan. I hop on arma and play, after 22 minutes it crashed and I get this error message.

The instructions 0x77c4e49b referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written.

Any ideas? @lionel

All it says when I launch the application hotfix is "Microsoft Host Intergration Server 2004 Server not found."

All it gave me were 4 choices to choose, both English versions give me the same message.

This is how much I know about PC, were do I unzip the file too. Which area of my PC?

woops sorry !

Thanks !!

So, as I'm now agree with you guys that this is a overheating problem. I.E my heat levels have gotten to over 60 degrees in the graphics card when playing fallout 4.

Any idea for

  • 1) A quick fix
  • 2) Long term
For the time being I think I'm going to keep one side of my PC off and maybe add a normal fan to keep to cool.

Air flow efficient case

Better aftermarket cooler or try water cooling

try altering fan speeds in bios

as I read before ensure you have an extractor fan

Think now when I get some money, I'm going to build my own PC, no idea how but hey ho. First time for everything.

As for the fan speed, it's about 1,000-2,000 RPM for the 3 fans @SamatlewissSo I'm not sure I can speed them up.

I had the memory could not be referenced issue a few days ago, have you tried simply disabling all the advanced options in the Arma 3 Launcher (only keeping nointro, nopause etc.)? After I did that the problem went away. But having an issue with memory pointing to 0x00000000 seems as if Arma may actually be the one at fault in some way, as I never had that issue in 800 hours of playing before a few days ago.

EDIT: Also, 60 degrees is not hot at all for a gpu. In fact, it's pretty damn good. GPU's are made to run hot (especially AMD ones), and can run well above 80 degrees before any damage and/or thermal throttling takes place.
