is it possible there could be an admin post on this, so everyone get's the chance to see itServer is currently down, due to a glorious fuck-up by our hosting company. We told them to shut down Server 2 (pending a review on its performance). They shut down the wrong one.
We are currently tearing them a new orifice, and will hopefully be back up as soon as they've explained themselves...
You just got one from Edis it possible there could be an admin post on this, so everyone get's the chance to see it
Just to follow-up personally...
I spoke with the CEO of our hosting company for quite a long time (a good couple of hours). They've apologised profusely for the error and we've been compensated for the loss. It was also a good opportunity for us to build some bridges with the hosting company, and discuss in detail a lot of issues around the whole Altis Life/Arma3 thing. In all, very productive. We have a much better relationship with that company now, and some inside information that will hopefully prove useful in future development of our server.
I'm not going to say too much more on it at this point, but I hope this will be the start of a beautiful friendship. We are clearly very important to the hosting company, and they evidently want to retain us (not surprisingly, given that we are currently the number 1 ARMA3 server in the UK at the moment).
I think it is good when a company can show a human face and make a genuine apology, and they certainly did that for us last night. Okay, so we were all pissed off here when the wrong server got accidentally terminated, but it most certainly wasn't a deliberate act, and was instead a genuine mistake caused by someone acting too fast to please us, and misreading something. Shit happens. But in a way, it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good (as the saying goes)... and something good is coming from this, so I am feeling rather happy, after all.
Let's see what the future holds. At the very least, we have a hotline to their CEO now, and have been told that if *anything* goes wrong, we are at liberty to call him 24/7 rather than waste time going to frontline support... which can't be bad!
