Hello all ! Tom here, just thought i'd make a quick topic about a problem I am having. First of all id like to address why I did not post in the "problem" section - I did not post in the problem section becuase I feel this isn't a server related problem however, may be a general altis life problem (Or just a Arma one).

Ok, so after around 45m to an hour my game starts to lag tremendously and I have to restart the whole game to fix the problem. I feel my PC should be able to cope with this as I run at (Normally) 30fps before this happens and these are my specs:

GPU: GeForce GTX 580

Intel Core i5-3350P CPU @ 3.10GHz

Memory: 4.00 GB RAM (3.47 GB usable)

Current resolution: 1440x900, 60Hz

Driver version: 337.88

OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro - 32bit at the moment but 64bit compatible.

I have ruled out over heating as I have bought extra coolers and overlocked them to run at high speed. If anyone can help I would be eternally greatful.

Just a quick update - this is also SEEMS not to be a GPU problem however, I cant rule it out.

 
Do you have any other programs other than arma and TS running at the same time?

I used to run Overwolf in the background for the TS overlay, however this ended up being the cause of my performance issues.

Since disabling overwolf, Altis Life runs smooth as butter.

Doesn't seem so, and I don't have overwolf installed. Thank you for your help :)

 
NEED MOAR RAM CAPTAIN !!!!!!!!

Arma is a bitch for eating RAM double what u have and it should be fine, 8gb is really the new standard amount of ram u should have

i found this guide very help full for optimizing certain things in Arma

EDIT: also dude dont overclock your fanspeed u will burn them out faster and 1 day not realise they are burnt out till u fuck your GPU and your PC crashes. . . . . . . . . like i did with my 560 gtx R.I.P  :(  I find regular cleaning and maintenance is the easier way to go

I would guess thermal throttling, where your components get too hot, and need to turn down the speeds they are running at to try and cool down.

What temps are you getting both after a fresh boot and around the 35-40 min mark? On the CPU and GPU that is.

Ah shit just read that you bought new fans, but can I still have the temps, as it mad be something to do with heat sinks not being seated correctly etc

After I fresh boot I get around 50 - 55 Degrees and it stays around the there even after the game starts lagging. Min: 39 Degrees Max: 99 Degrees

On my CPU it stays around 45 degrees.

EDIT: After around 32 minutes The GPU temp. starts to rise.

Edit : I'm only at 32 bit right now so therefore can't upgrade my RAM just yet although I will.

 
EDIT: It is most likely a memory issue as I can last for 1h 30m when im not doing anything and just afking however, when im driving around e.t.c. I only last for 30mins.

Here's a detailed description of what happens :

I log in and I play fine at around 35fps for up to 1 and a half hours if im not driving around however, if I am I only last around 15 mins before this starts happening and the game starts lagging tremendously and all the textures because very simple e.g. the tyres of a car before square.

 
*Bump* Still haven't fixed the problem however, I feel it may be to do with RAM even though I have 4gb.

I still have this problem (Sadly) and it is greatly effecting my play in Arma 3.

1) It seems to only happen online.

2) The game is fine up until around 15 minutes of high octane play (e.g. Driving around e.t.c.) OR up to 30 minutes of play (e.g. Walking around/standing still).

My first guess would be that it's software related, like a driver messing with your memory, but I'm far from an expert on this.

But 99 degrees on the GPU? that might be the problem right there 99 on a GPU is insane.

Thank you so much for your reply, I'm going to check my software as this has never occurred to me before. I will be uploading a video soon. I'm also going to check my GPUs' cooler again as I agree 99 degrees is insane. Thanks again, Tom.

 
My guess is its you GPU is overheating, either its broken/the fan is clogged with dust, youve overclocked t too far, or its simply working its heart out. 

Can i suggest cleaning your GPU, and maybe running a test on it to see how hot it runs normally. 

The weird thing is if a GPU gets that hot the drivers will normally crash, it almost looks like its at full load all the time...

I have a slightly lower graphics card (Geforce GTX 570) and don't have this problem.

Run MSI Afterburner when playing, it shows all the info you need, e.g. fan speed; GPU load, etc...

Thank you so much for your reply, I'm cleaning the GPU out now and will run a test with MSI afterburner to see how hot it runs. I think it's almost time for a replace as I've had this GPU for around one and a half years now but I don't want to give up on it just yet.
