A Chance of Death

Brief Summary:

A small chance to quickly bleed out and die when severely wounded.

Detailed Suggestion:

Many players have noticed a rise in the frequency of gunfights, and the overall value of preserving life has significantly dropped on the server. This suggestion aims to address this issue by introducing a mechanic that increases the risk of severe injuries.

When players sustain critical injuries, whether that is from being shot in the head, falling from a great height, or suffering another serious trauma, there would be a small chance that their time until death is drastically reduced. This would simulate rapid blood loss or immediate fatal injuries, forcing players to bleed out and respawn rather than waiting for medical assistance.

This mechanic would add weight to the decisions players make in dangerous scenarios, reinforcing the importance of valuing their in-game lives.

The Pros:
  • Encourages realistic decision-making making players more likely to think twice before engaging in reckless behaviour or unnecessary violence.
  • Improves immersion by adding a layer of realism, as life threatening injuries could have immediate consequences.
  • Reduces senseless gunfight with the increased risk of permanent consequences. Players are less likely to engage in shootouts without valid reasons.
  • Players are more likely to avoid dangerous situations and engage in negotiations.
  • Increases the value of life by making the risk of death more real, this mechanic can encourage better roleplay scenarios and more thoughtful interactions.
  • Allows both sides of conflicts to have a greater effect on each other

The Cons:
  • Some may feel its unfair if they bleed out quickly before recieving medical help however, this would be a consequence of their actions.
  • It may be difficult to find the right percentage to when this happens, the thought of it being a threat alone can have the desired effects that are wanted.

Does this suggestion change balance on the server ?
Yes!

Not only does it introduce more risk to gunfights, but it also increases the overall value of life. Players will need to be more cautious, thoughtful, and strategic, encouraging a healthier and more immersive roleplay environment.

Class idea - as for people complaining of a shorter timer, like you have said already - it's a consequence of their actions, but also it's no different to losing a gun to pillbox IMO. It's all luck of the draw. +1

I'm a fan of the idea in writing however I think in practise it won't be so good. As proved by the medical update of a few months ago, the tracking of injuries is *less than optimal*. You can stumble over and get a major head injury from a fall where your characters head never touches the ground. I think if this idea were to be implemented then it would take a hell of a lot of dev work for a feature that won't work 50% of the time due to limitations of the game. You'll certainly have a lot of unhappy folk who have just bled out in 10 seconds after getting tackled.

-1 I can personally only see this taking roleplay away. Especially when, from my experience, big fights can last up to a good 45 mins at times.

-1, Gang Fights nowadays last a lot longer then 30-45 minutes sometimes going to an hour+, this suggestion could cause a lot of roleplay to be lost, and someone’s night be the following: Shot,Dead,Respawn>lose everything > demotivated completely all because the timer has been sped up if this suggestion was implemented

I like the idea of fatal injuries but I don’t think reducing the timer is needed. Just adding a set of fatal injuries to the “check injuries” would give the samme effect but force people to rp more.

A medic/officer/civ that checks you over would see that your character has a “fatal” injury and can attempt to RP from there (or just leave the lost cause where it lies).

The main issue i would see with this however is crims attempting to dodgy a player with a fatal injurie wich wouldnt make sense.
