Many people live their life with a mental health problem, they are often overlooked by others since there is no 'visual symptoms'. Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar disorder are just a few examples of mental health problems. Personally I have lived my life very close to people who struggled with problems such as Depression, it's a horrible thing to watch someone experience. Depression affects more than 450,000 people in Ireland (one in ten) at any one time. Any of us, irrespective of age, gender or background, can be affected at some point in our life. There are many kinds of mental illnesses but my main personal focus of this stream is to create awareness of Depression (of course in full support of other conditions too), having people in my personal life experience it and being around them and seeing first hand how it affects people it really makes me want to do something about it.

With all of this in mind we have decided to support the charity 'Mind' based in the UK, you can find information on them and how they operate on their website www.mind.org.uk. Closer to the event we will be releasing the link to a JustGiving page where you will be able to contribute to the cause and get a shout-out live on stream and on a list of donators which will be released after the stream.

I have also put together a web-page which will give you the links to wherever you need to go and the stream will also be put live at this URL too: http://mind.kpurcell.me/.

The stream will begin at 12PM (Midday GMT) on the 18th of March and end at 12PM on the 19th of March. I will be live on the Twitch Channel 'Kilosle' which will be linked at the bottom of this post.

Some people who will be live on stream for the full 24 hours:

Kevin - @KevinP
Brandon - @Clarkey
Quinn - @SGT Quinn
MACCAS - @CI MACCAS
Alexim - @Alexim
JohnJoeegan - @JohnJoeegan

I thank you all in advance for the support, even if only one of you support the cause it's still one step in the right direction. I also thank you for your time and I hope to see you at the stream.

Amazing cause. Lots of respect to you for doing this ^^^

Mental health has a lot of effect on the person and the people around them (especially family members such as children and partners) and it is too often overlooked. The mental health care in Britain is poor to say the least and it's great to see people bringing awareness to this. Thanks :)

Mind do some great work, and still have a great deal more to achieve. Mental health issues directly affect 1 in 4 people in the UK, and the stigma attached to it needs to be removed. I've done some time in a secure psych unit myself, and I'm not ashamed to admit that that is a part of who I am, so expect me to drop by at some point to show my support for this cause.

..I also like the irony of raising money for Mind, whilst doing something that would drive me crazy. 24 Hour streams aren't for the faint of heart. Good luck!

Can't wait to stream, very good cause and a good way of raising awareness.

@DainMK staying up for 24 hours isn't too bad, I once slept for 27 hours after it though so depends on if you can waste a day.

Just Giving page is up: https://www.justgiving.com/24HourMind

Had issues with others as Just Giving's spam filter flags the word 'Stream'... So we had to rephrase :p

Hopefully this one stays live, thanks for the support everyone! Looking forward to the stream to see if we can somehow make the £200 mark!

The stream was lots of fun, and I am very happy with how it went. In total we raised £100 in 7 contributions which will go directly to Mind. This is one of those times you can see how giving the people of this community are (In other words, the people in this community are fucking awesome).

Huge thanks to the following for their contributions:

@SPC Vaffla -  £30 (+£7.50)

@Unlucky George -  £20 (+£5.00)

@SGT Kazza -  £10 (+£2.50)

@Drew -  £10 (+£2.50)

Vixalele -  £10

@DR Milo - £10

@Agent Fortyseven -  £10

@Clarkeyand I are planning on doing a stream like this every 2-3 months so if you have any charities you'd like to see supported (or if you want to get involved) on the next one hit up me or Brandon!

With Love,
Kevin.
