doing this would make it very easy for someone to do something like commit crime then run into a clothing store swap outfit and then claim its not me, also why would a clothing store keep your different piles of clothes laying around in a realistic view

Your issue here tho is that by letting people still hold onto them then going if we're closed then that's cool you would then have to hope the player is checking the status of all the shops all the time, for your idea to work it's pretty much all or nothing
