Honestly ive only really done it in schooling. The way i have got familiar with Photoshop is regular use, I wouldn't recommend doing complicated tutorials till you have learnt each tools use ETC. Forgot to mention it is defiantly Photoshop you should learn, none of that illustrator shit yet.
