As far as I am aware, the frequency of the Ram is a limiter on how fast the CPU can clock up, so as you ramp up your CPU you need to make sure your Ram can also scale accordingly. so in applications that rely heavily upon pure cpu speed rather than bandwidth Ram could be quite a limiting factor...
