Seems like something that would only lead to people avoiding the UNMC area if they have to go through a police checkpoint, then a UNMC checkpoint.the police have the tnire island, they dont need a checkpoint that close to the unmc,But i taotally suppost the idea, just not right next to the unmc one, seems to make a powder keg waiting to explode.

Ah, it's on the police forum: REPOST:

So, some of us may remember the old police checkpoints - Pygros, Athira, Kavala.... They were often a tale of two halves - Great RP mixed with rebels occupying them and being a royal pain in the arse.

However....

We have the UNMC checkpoint, to me, it seems logical to have a checkpoint on 'our' side. Perhaps 1 - 2 K up the road from the UNMC checkpoint. This would serve us well in my opinion and make sense from an RP perspective:

Although not an official 'border', it is usual for a border crossing to have both neighbouring territories have a presence to control the inflow and outflow of visitors (I'm not sure of any border crossing worldwide which doesn't have a duel purpose - even the South Koreans and the DPRK share a border crossing!).

I believe it could present an interesting opportunity - especially where those who attempt to flee to UNMC lands - they have to clear a police checkpoint first (thus provide the police an opportunity to prevent UNMC lands becoming a 'safe haven' during persuits for example.)

It seems odd that while the UNMC are free to enter Altis, we have to enter their 'lands' via a border crossing - surely the same should apply to Altis - whys should UNMC have it their way?

Furthermore, with the creation of a 'no mans land' this could present some interesting opportunities in itself - of course, the fence would need replication to truly create a 'no mans land' but I can envisage some pretty fun RP - and to me it adds a sense of realism - for the reasons mentioned above: I can't think of a border crossing in the world which is only manned by one nation. (Of course, you could argue UNMC isn't a nation, but given how significant their border crossing is, it would lead one to assume it is treated as such).

Just my thoughts - it's something we haven't done before.

Ooops, that looks as though I screwed something up *walks away*

The issue i see here is officer manning the Checkpoint  will search & Seize illegal stuff coming through, which in turn will defeat any intention of making more reason to enter unmc lands,If we get a processor,Officer will just camp the checkpoints, causing people to just avoid the unmc area,I like your intention of a no mans land,I just feel like it will choke the UNMC territory unless we constantly were in conflict with the apd to allow people to come threw,As it stands the unmc have under 1/3 of the island,by placing a checkpoint close to our border you basicly strangling us in the small area,However imo if you placed the checkpoint along the area coming from the prison to the salt Trader, effictivly cutting off pyrgos side from the Athirs side, this would still creat a no mans land between us,but still provide enough room for both groups to manever around and wouldnt basicly require all civs to pass a police checkpoint to come to our side.Im totally for you guys having a way to monitor people coming and going, just think the "No mans land" needs to be a decently sized area.

Remember, the UNMC area isn't recognised. In my view, it should be designed to be restrictive. It's what would effectively happen - creating a 'buffer' between two warring factions. It should be possible for both sides to view no man's land in it's entirety.

SO in you eyes police should be staring at the unmc border and preventing any & all citizens to enter without being searched by police, effectivley negating any reason to ever enter unmc territory, that will literly choke the life out of the UNMC as a group, but your ok with no border along the gang base area? a known criminal land with no laws really?

Im not attempting to start anything but this simply seems like a reason to confine the UNMC sepcificly and not just a attempt to get the police a Checkpoint,Why does it need to be within spitting distance of the UNMC border?

I have no Bias either way,Ive just seen this exact thing done to antoher whitelisted rebel faction & it ended in constant fighting between APD & the Group because the APD would sit at the checkpoint and prevent anyone from entering causing thee Rebels to leave their area and attempt to push the cops away so people could come into tht earea

But isn't that what the UNMC are doing to Altis? Doesn't the UNMC prevent citizens of Altis free movement to the North? If not, why have a border at all? Are the UNMC not 'Staring at the border' as you put it already?

I didn't for a second advocate stopping all traffic to UNMC, merely observing and recording it - just like any border crossing.

And to answer your question, EVERY border crossing in the world (to my knowledge at least) has both parties controlling their respective sides of the border.

My point is, if the UNMC have a border crossing, then it isn't ACTUALLY a border crossing without control on BOTH sides.

Im not against a border,im only against it being so close to eachother,2 klicks away is only going to cause problems.you dont go down and restrict gangs from crossing that area, the border im suggesting would give the police total contrl over everything from prison towards kavala, leaving the pyrgos area the "No mans Land" your looking for while still providing a area large enough to allow both groups to move aroun without conflict everytime,if the apd sits 2 kliks aways from the unmc border, you will see a massive increase in fights between both sides.

give me a few minutes to draft up a visual of what im suggesting
