Hello fellow Altaians,

 I pray all y'all are staying safe and are still in good health.  For those infected, I pray for you a speedy recovery.

 My topic today is "SCAMMERS"

I have heard about, read, and listened to several people who have been scammed by other players On the Island.  Scams ranging from vehicles, weapons, and high value clothing.  to property, specifically, barns.

I hold a BS in psychology, so I understand why people scam other people.  However, I find this action against other players morally and ethically diabolical and distasteful.  

And no, that is not a degree in Bull Shit.   Although, due to some of my views and opinions, some have said I'm FULL of BS lol.

Anyway, Yes, while many people would never carry out in real life, what they do in a game scenario, the fact they are thinking about and acting on those thoughts in a game, shows a personality trait transferred into the game.

You are what you think...  The abbreviated Meaning, thoughts profoundly impact people's moods and shifting emotions, their behavioral choices, the risks that do or don't get taken, and their feelings of self-worth and self-esteem in all arenas of life.  Countless common thoughts can have a negative and lasting impact both for themselves, and others.

There is what's called, "game transfer phenomenon" by which people are continuing to think about games when supposedly engaged in some other real-world tasks, often discovering new ideas that they try when they return to the game environment.  Gamer's are often seeing game opportunities in the real world around them.  i.e. imagining themselves stealing a car, robbing someone, driving over or running into objects, and in extreme cases, imagining themselves shooting someone.  Granted, as adults, people can usually control their thoughts and not take any physical action.  But the young often struggle with this.

Gamer's also respond to real world stimuli as if they were still playing the game.  a sound causes some gamer's to have an emotional response as if there was a nearby threat since the sound indicates a threat in the game.   their response to people around them sometimes changes based on the type of game(s) they play.

 Scammers have a few different motivations.  One is narcissism. Basically, the thinking is that " 'I'm important and the rules just don't apply to me,” These scammers do and take what they please and find a way to justify it given their superiority, importance, or desire.

 Other scammers have antisocial tendencies, like sociopathy, that drive their behavior.  In this case, scammers believe that not only do societal rules not apply to them, they also have no empathy for other people. They feel like if folks are cheated, then it's their own fault. Their interests are what matters, regardless of the consequences for others.

 For people who scam in a game environment, it's not so cut and dry.   In the beginning, many scammers make a small compromise or act unethically in a way that isn't much of a big deal, no one really cares or notices, and they get away with it saying, "IT'S ONLY A GAME, NO ONE REALLY GET'S HURT OR LOOSES ANY REAL VALUE OR PROPERTY".  So, they do it again and again, perhaps they try a larger or more significant scam each time.

 Sadly, paradoxically, some people scam because they truly believe what they're doing is actually ethical.  What these people do not understand is, the victims of their scam, in many cases, are traumatized by the experience.  The common response from the scammer to the victim is "Suck it up, it's only a game." Showing no remorse, or respect for the other player.

 Personally, when I play, like most, I know it's a game.  Nevertheless, in a multiplayer game, especially a role-playing game, I would hope that people would conduct themselves honorably, and hold themselves accountable to the rules of the game and at the very least, treat each other with respect.

 Remember the Golden Rule.  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Treat other people with the concern and kindness you would like them to show toward you.  If you lie, cheat, steel, and scam, that's your choice.  And although your closest friends may not be bothered by your actions, even praise you,  your actions WILL eventually outcast you from the many, and even your closest friends may like you, but they will not trust you.

PS:  A suggestion for the GOD's.  Amend the rules to include a penalty for crimes against humanity.  i.e. scamming being one to add.

[SIZE=10pt]Building a new computer after only a few years was never foremost in my mind.  [/SIZE]Much less, birthing a $6,000 monster machine.

[SIZE=10pt] My computer needs while complex, were relatively simple.  [/SIZE]I needed a computer that would handle all my business needs, trading needs, as well as my video editing needs. So, I ordered a costume-built computer from Dell, thinking that would handle all my needs.  And although it did, to some extent, do what I needed, as time went on that computer began to have a lot of issues.   Like an expensive car, it needed a lot of constant maintenance, and replacement of parts that should have lasted longer than they did till finely, the straw that broke the camel’s back.

[SIZE=10pt] After spending almost double the purchase price to keep that Dell alive. The motherboard was failing and that’s when I’d had enough.  [/SIZE]It was time for a new computer.  But this time, I wanted to build something that would last, something that if I needed to replace any parts, I wouldn’t have to worry about proprietary issues.    I could simply replace the part(s) that went out and keep going.

[SIZE=10pt] So began my research.  [/SIZE]But where to begin.  So many questions and so many options.  What were the best components, what components would work together, what components were the best for both a work station, and a gaming platform.  So many ideas from so many people.  This one is better, that one is better, everyone had their own opinions and ideas.

[SIZE=10pt] [/SIZE][SIZE=10pt]Remember[/SIZE][SIZE=10pt], I wanted first a workstation that would decimate any software I through at it with lightning speed, in addition, handle any work load I intended to use it for.  [/SIZE]Second, I wanted to have the ability to destroy any game I was playing. {Within reason.} With that in mind, I begun gathering a parts list.  Now of course, balancing a work station with a game machine is a tough task as some components are better for gaming, others are better for work stations.  moreover, I didn’t want to spend more than $7k so I had to pick the right components for the build.

[SIZE=10pt] [/SIZE][SIZE=10pt]Below is what you see in the video:  [/SIZE]A monster work station that to date, has out-performed my every expectation.  Yes, there were a few hiccups I had to deal with but I believe I have those sorted out.  That said, this computer may not destroy some games, but a few.  It’s better than I have ever had.  I still need to buy a couple real nice monitors, but that will come soon enough.

REVIEW:  USB to USB Controller Converter

Turn almost any USB keyboard into a programmable keyboard!  This little dongle is one of the most ingenious keyboard-related devices I've come across. It allows you to change the keymap and add functions through TMK firmware. But many folks still don't know it exists.  Hopefully this review will help shed some light on this game-changing device.   I’ll begin by taking a look at what the USB to USB converter is and what it does.

For the uninitiated, TMK is a highly-customizable keyboard firmware.  TMK is primarily designed for AVR controllers, but it also has support for ARM-based boards like the Infinity. TMK supports a ton of features, including multiple layers, custom function key operation media keys, and mouse keys.

I'm not a TMK historian, or a programmer.  But while researching “how to add a second keyboard,” I found, hasu's first TMK firmware threads date back to late 2012. hasu developed converter devices for ADB, PS/2, and IBM terminal boards, among others, which created a funny situation--through TMK, these old keyboards running obsolete protocols actually had access to more advanced capabilities than a lot of newer USB-based boards. To fix this, hasu created the USB to USB converter.

What Does It DO?

The name USB to USB Converter is a bit tongue-in-cheek, as there is obviously no need to convert a protocol to itself. But for those familiar with the capabilities of other like converters, this name makes total sense. This device can take any USB keyboard, old or new, and turn it into a fully-programmable one, customized precisely to your own specifications. And the best part is, this device provides that customizability to all of your USB keyboards.  This, I believe, is the true magic of the USB to USB converter.  Simply flash your configuration once and it will work with any board you plug into it.

How It Works:

The technical operation of the converter is surprisingly simple. On the keyboard end, the converter acts as a USB host device, so as far as your keyboard is concerned it's plugged into a computer. On the computer end, it uses the same HID protocol as any USB keyboard. That means it supports USB HID features such as media keys and LED lock indicators.  The converter is a small dongle with a male USB plug on one end and a female USB plug on the other. The PCB is double-sided, with the ATmega32u4 chip on the bottom, and the USB host controller and most of the other components on the top. The dongle is wrapped in clear heat-shrink tubing to keep it protected.

The conclusion:

I wholeheartedly recommend hasu's USB to USB converter. It's an incredibly useful device, and for the price, one of the most economical in terms of bang for your keyboard buck.

If you are someone who has found your one "end game" keyboard and never switches, you probably don't need this converter. But if you've ever found yourself accidentally entering HHKB shortcuts on your 1800, you may want to think about picking one up.  In fact, these are so popular, they are sold out within a few days.

Horses are amazing animals.  Every day, I try to learn something new from my horses.  They are very transparent with their feelings, and if you watch, and listen closely, they will tell you what they want, and how they are feeling.

I have trained many breeds of horses in my life. In addition, I have had the pleasure of interacting with horses that defy belief.  Horses that seemingly look like a normal horse, but when you look into their eyes, you just know they have something special to offer, and are more than willing to give that special gift if asked.

History has shown us some of those extraordinary horses.  Horses, that by all accounts, were blessed with an ability that defies human understanding.

Here is a video of a race horse that is even today, un-matched.  Watch closely as this horse unleashes his gift, his raw power, and shows the world that he was put on earth for a purpose. You don’t have to be a cowboy/cowgirl to appreciate this majestic display of love.

*** UPDATE ***

WEEEEELL, I seem to be having a run of BAD luck.  if you believe in that sort of thing.

While setting up the monster pc, the guy who put all the parts together that I ordered, put WAY to much thermal past (TP) on the CPU,  some of that TP leaked out onto the motherboard and shorted it out.  Nice right!!!

And before you ask, yes, he used conductive TP on the CPU for peak performance while overclocking. 

So now, I have to wait for a replacement MB.  5-10 day i'm told...!!!

In the mean time, I'm going to re-past the CPU in this #$%^ING Dell, add an extra fan, lower the CPU speed, and try to get it to run cooler.

Howdy!

IT"S ALIVE!!!!!!  my new computer arrived today and man-oh-man is it a monster...  However, I have some core software to get installed, along with the game, and a bunch of other stuff that is going to take me some time.

I've already been awake for nearly 37 hours, and I plan to stay up as long as possible to get as much done as I can before I pass out  lol.

I do plan on doing a review with a video from myself, and the tec who put all the parts I ordered together.  But that will be after I have mostly everything Re-installed onto the new pc.  Your gunu like this so stay tuned 

I will be back on the Island asap to start my new carrier as a Medic.  Till then, Keep my seat worm and clean  lol

Howdy fellow altians,

Well, I’ve done it now……  As many of you know, I have hade PC issues that have prevented me from starting my new carrier as a Medic on Altis Island.  I have been on and off the server as a civilian trying to tweak my pc in attempt to keep it running as long as possible.  While doing so, learn my way around the island, make some friends, have some quality RP, etc., before this @$#% pc shuts itself down.  Which is often…

I have met a lot of real nice, and interesting people from all over the globe.  Also, some not so nice people lol.

Now, I wasn’t really looking to join any gangs or groups other than the NHS, and later, the police. That said, as a civilian, I have been hanging around with different people, and I did find a group of people that were very much like minded.  i.e. had many of the same beliefs and values as I regarding many topics. In altis, and real life.

You can probably guess that I am VERY particular about whom I hang with, and even more so whom I call friend. That said, as I got to know some of these fellas, I found that I enjoyed chatting with them on a verity of subjects.  The more we chatted, the more I gained a certain amount of respect for the members I have been chatting with, for how they conducted themselves on the island, and in chat.  In addition, their core values for their group are such that I could feel comfortable being a member, without causing unnecessary harm to other law-abiding citizens just trying to live their lives, earn a living, or enjoying the game.

Because as you know, that is one of my big concerns on Altis Island.

So, to the point, Yes, I asked to join their group.  And as of today, I am now a proud member of: [For the purposes of non-disclosure, and because I am not sure I should, or are allowed, I will not name the group.]   Sorry…

Now, let me be clear, I am still going to pursue my carrier as a Medic in the NHS as soon as my new PC arrives, and is set up.  But I will also be in the afore mentioned group as a civilian.  I will learn how to balance between the two once I get started.
