When you say the mic doesnt work - what have you tried it in?

Depending on if the Mic is on the analog connection or the usb connection, is it set as the default device in the sound manager? Right click on the speaker icon bottom right, choose 'recording devices' and show us what you see there.

What type of Motherboard do you have as well?

Just reading up on it - Is the USB connector a USB3 connection? and in a USB3 socket? Otherwise it might not work.

Ok for starters - it doesn't appear your pc has built in 5.1 surround sound. Which is why you cant find the space for the other 2 plugs.

Secondly - research suggests the USB connection is USB3, and it will not work over USB2. USB3 ports on your PC are usually Blue in colour, or has SS (SuperSpeed) on them.

For the 5.1 surround sound to work you will need a 5.1 sound card. For example this:

Well F*** me guess i've got to send it back, is their any other headset that doesnt recuire that, for a 100 pounds or less?

Sure - The headset I have is wireless and does 7.1 surround via a USB sound card - it's £100.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CA-9011127-EUCGH2100-Wireless-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00NHJQ8CA/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1470752239&sr=1-2&keywords=corsair+gaming+headset

There is also a wired version which is a bit cheaper @75 quid, but the freeodm from wires is great.

This Logitech G930 headset is also wireless and EXTREMELY good.

Thier 7.1 surround sound is 'Virtualised' over the USB dongles, so you dont have to worry about having the right ports.

The other 2 jacks are for the surround sound, meaning you need a 5.1 or 7.1 channel sound card. Personally I'd recommend this. However, surround sound headsets in general aren't a very good idea. It's much better to have a good stereo headset, and use Dolby Surround.
