What ruins the RP is getting stunted with "can't allow you to do this because it steps on other factions toes" I don't think me pointing out an issue within the server and it's pecking order is going to change anything in city, because thats metagaming right?

If other players think they are being stepped on, of course they will defend it. Same with you wanting to have more options for civies.

You might not be aware, but these faction things are ususlly under heavy supervised control. Certain things wont happen until its been given a green light.
They do let me know if i do something they dont like, but im a brick wall

The complaint about civs not having enough to do is probably one of the oldest arguments here at RPUK. I remember when Thanatos made a very similar suggestion back in 2020 and he ended up leaving. Many good, decent roleplayers have left because no one wanted to turn criminal or work for the police and NHS (Rangers weren't a thing then) and just wanted to flourish as a civ like you can in other servers - ok the argument here could be "then go and play on a different server" but... why? Why can't things be adapted for the civs like it can be for gangs, for factions, for police etc?

The statement of "Surely that's a good thing though? That the faction has progressed, and the servers standpoint has also, allowing them to follow through with the vision you had for it?" - This is where I'm making myself a target. No.

I am absolutely gutted and it boils my piss that we were always told:
It's not fair to others
It doesn't make sense
That will never be implemented, it's just not happening
You will take away jobs from the NHS
It doesn't make sense to do xyz
And this is OOC not in game so not a case of factions defending anything there.

And the second we step down suddenly it all starts being added bit by bit and they're given a 'dev request sheet'. You tell me that there isn't favoritism and likability going on in this server. I've also been staff so I know some what. If you aren't in any of the 'friend groups' then it's not nice. But that's where I'll stop, because Anything else I add won't be constructive to my point and still I would never to this day discuss anything that I saw or heard there.

Going right back to the original suggestion - It's a 5 year problem that I know of so I imagine that it's a worry that dates back even further. There just really needs to be a much better thought given to people who come to play as normal people, we might be the minority but we deserve to be listened to just as much as gang 1,2,3 and 37 you know? I took a 2 year Hiatus, in that time we could be a bin man and pick lettuce in a field.

I get that, I understand that, which is why I've made my point on allowing competition. But when admin, CoC, whichever are telling people starting businesses, that they aren't allowed to do certain things because it effects businesses, that admins, coc whichever have their fingers in, that's when it becomes a bit "neppy baby". Like I couldn't start up a customisation business because it would be competition to bennys, I couldn't start my own repair shop and offer private license plates because that hurts AE. It's all well and good saying you can progress to those ventures but if you're getting handicapped before you get started what is the point?

Couldn't agree more. As an ex Owner and developer of a City, it's odd how EVERYTHING suggested is returned with, yeah its difficult etc, or made to be extremely difficult/more complicated to introduce. All we're asking is for EVERY business to have the same support, benefits etc. Ok, not so much the same for everyone. As you wont want 100 mechanics in the City. But the same chance of possibilities.

Because at this very time that is the route where the Project and Development Leads have decided to go down. It might as well change in the future, but for now. Thats how it is.

Welp, that seems like the City is just going to continue to be un-enjoyable and one sided. That's a shame.

As a Civ main, I find this divisive. When you say this, do you mean more Civ NPC jobs that involve no RP interaction?

I would argue that there are far more civilian jobs available through the means of roleplay.

I think these would be made more apparent if it was given a push by other players and actively engage with these and roleplay them out. I would say that what you are doing currently as a mechanic and lowing company is fantastic and to keep doing what you are doing. You will reap the rewards soon enough.

Do note that the owners of already existing businesses are and should be held to a much higher standard of roleplay, both giving and receiving. Factions, I believe, are also held to the same standards, therefore it may be simply coincidental that a business owner ends up within or close to a faction. There may be a lot of roleplay involved because of this and not pre-determined.

I think a lot of fantastic civilian business ideas/opportunities die down quickly because of a lack of engagement with the general community. This is something we could all work on to improve life for the server as a whole.

I've tried very hard. I've tried for days to contact G6, even track them down. Nothing. But, funny how when certain Factions do events, they have G6 there within no time at all.

At the end of the day, its never going to change. Like Astrid noted, it's been something asked about for YEARS. Incredible roleplayers leaving etc. And even there, no change will happen for the two mechanics being the only mechanics getting the main stuff.

It's like screaming and no-one hearing. It's not even enjoyable anymore.

And that is why people take to the "suggestions" page on the forums. If suggestions get ignored because Project and Development Leads have already decided to go down a certain route, what is the point of a suggestions page in the first place? Today I've gone through numerous suggestion threads, some of which were very great ideas and would enrich a lot of roleplay opportunities and they get denied, for various reasons sure. Some of which, were denied then later implemented. You say "at this very time.." but I've been around since 2020 and the attitude towards suggestions remain the same

Might change, if we find a feaseable way to do it properly so we dont dump the stuff on the people doing it and they have no clue what to do with it.

Like from someone with developing qualities, and I know how to code. I'd love to help. I really would. But from how I've seen constant things be denied, or argued against etc; it's off-putting. Again sad, because I really do see potential with the City.

But because of the way the server is set up the civs can't afford to live in the current economy so they're forced to grind out unenjoyable RP lacking jobs just to get by.
If you prioritize RP over making money here you're a bit screwed when everything costs so much, even a bottle of water.

This has nothing to do with favoritism and everything to do with people being busy. We get a shit load of dispatches every day, and setting up security for an event takes a lot of time and boils down to one specific person handling it - if that person happens to be busy, it'll be a lot harder to organize. It definitely doesn't have anything to do with you being a faction/gang/organization or whatever, G6 has and always will remain purely about RP, doing event security is a part of our RP and we love to do it, for anyone.

There are two sides to this, from my opinion. There are people who "grind out to get by" and those who "grind to maximise money". I think the majority fall under the latter, unfortunately.

You need people to have some form of priority for roleplay, as this is a roleplay server. It works both ways. People need to offer the engagement and also be willing to engage themselves.

You could dare suggest that maybe a small change to "passive wages" could assist with "getting by".

You could also suggest that, in my opinion, the current food market pricing is extremely scuffed and could be reviewed, too.

But sticking to the forum's topic, I think that from a surface level, there should be more civilian options. My argument is that there are means through roleplay that players just don't wish to engage with and I believe this is more of a Community issue, than an NPC jobs one.

Good, i hope you have found some we can push further on!

Now, i cant remember for the life of me when firet itiration of AE and Tire Nutz ( Now Bennys) came in. But changes have been made sinse and up until a couple years ago they are put under some terms and conditions to ensure a place for people to do legal work.

I would love to see a future to other places give this a try, but i dont want it to be a waste of time for our word wizards.


Edit; Sounds harsh. But for everything that goes in. Quite abit of time is spent doing that and preparing it.

I can understand it being devastating being on that side of the fence, but it is incredible demotivating being on this side and being accused of being biased.
Speaking about my work here, recently Ive made big changes to food and currently working on drugs, being called biased or favouritism is a bit harsh when I do not own a restaurant nor I am in a gang that deals with drugs.. I dont even RP for almost an year.
Be sure to know that, all the dev projects/changes are submited to the whole team where we discuss about it, not only code but also concept wise. If any one of us sees a problem it will be discussed, sometimes even prior any work being done.

If I would just fix the stuff where me or my character is involved, please by all means, call me biased, but not like this.

Lets talk about more stuff for civs to do. Why not coming up with a new recipe instead of copy cat what others have done?
(no pointing fingers at anyone here but think about this)
- Why would we need a third mechanic shop?
- Why would we need more restaurants? ( we currently have 16)
It is not only the dev work needed for it, it is also the longevity. How long would a third mehanic shop last? or a 17th restaurant?
If we give a third mechanic shop, why not a fourth? 5th? where do we draw the line?

We have empty MLOS, go there create new ideas. - I know it is hard, this is the hardest part in roleplay.

By this I am not saying sutff will never be done. That is not my (singular) call at all.

There is so many things we would like to see in our server, just so many ideas are written, backlogged and even forgotten about. Our days also have 24 hours and in those 24 hours, we also have lives going on, work, kids and we also enjoy playing.

This is one big argument here.

What roleplay benefit would it have if jobs like postal delivery, bus driver or anyother "single player" job would be added?
"People could jump in on the bus and RP" - Yes they could, people can also use taxis, people from restaurants can also use bin jobs and ask for their bin to be removed, we could even force restaurants to use food delivery job. The sad reality is, this only last so long till it gets outdated with the most money/hour job.

Apologies that in the last 2 years the only thing we added was bin jobs and picking lettuces. I think you are missing on some stuff.

Personally and this is just MY opinion. I noticed a little bit of inactivity from some Mechanic shops. Yes, this may be argued against and thats fine. So, I decided to open a TOWING and Repair business. Since then, I've noticed a massive increase in activity from both. Which is a plus right? I'm focusing on more on the go repairs, they focus more so on shop repairs and customisations. Personally, I saw by having another similar business, it pushed more avenues. But, from a development POV I think why? It will probably be denied, and so I've waisted all that time pushing for it. Because I enjoy it and want to see something come from it.
